Dating from 1170, Lismore is a privately owned castle offering luxury accommodation on an exclusive hire basis. It is an exceptional Irish destination - a place where you can make your own magic.
Be it a family gathering, an executive retreat, a grand marquee event, a celebration banquet or an intimate wedding, each rooms offers unique charm and appeal in a magnificent setting.
With accommodation capacity for up to thirty guest, elegant rooms reveal a history that includes the Boyle, Astaire, Mitford and Devonshire families. The stunning décor and rich furnishings are complemented by the staff's impeccable attention to detail.
Accommodation The Castle has a hall, a drawing room, two sitting rooms, a dining room, a spectacular Banqueting Hall for large receptions, a library, a games room with full size snooker table and a fully equipped playroom/nursery.
Lismore Castle consists of fifteen bedrooms and fourteen bathrooms accommodating up to 30 guests. There are a total of ten double bedrooms, two twin bedrooms and three single bedrooms.
A team of dedicated staff is on hand to offer the warmest of welcomes and to help plan and deliver every aspect of your perfect, tailor-made stay.
One just has to take a look at the visitors’ book to get a handle on what I mean. There is Lucian Freud (the worst handwriting of the lot), Diana Mosley (another Mitford sister, who married Britain’s most infamous fascist), poet John Betjeman, writer Patrick Leigh Fermor, photographer Cecil Beaton and actor Dominic West. There are earls, dukes and other royals; there are soccer stars and rock stars. A young J.F.K. came to stay. There is Fred Astaire, his signature followed by a note from his sister, Adele, who lived at Lismore from 1936 to 1944 with her husband, Lord Charles Cavendish, younger brother of the tenth duke. “I thought he’d never leave,” Adele wrote in her delicate hand, beneath a missive from her brother. It would take days, weeks to discover every detail of this house. For this reason alone, Lismore is the best rental of its kind—utterly authentic. (Departures Magazine)

You offered the Castle as our home and then made us feel welcome enough to believe it. All of the staff at the Castle could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. Our wishes were not only fulfilled but anticipated. Denis was wonderful to work with us as were Sean and Leonard. Beth Ann created a fabulous meal for us each night and everyone who was there to help could not have done more to make us all so happy. It was a week full of joyous memories and I thank you all.

"Lovely" Visited this place on our first day in Ireland, as it was close to our hotel. Great first day out for a relaxed walk. Lovely flowers and nice castle. Very peaceful and can take as long as you like wandering around the gardens.

"Don't miss if you enjoy and Irish Garden" As the name might suggest the attraction is the garden. The castle is not open. Can't really understand how anyone would find that confusing. We visited here in the morning time and were so pleased to initially have the gardens almost to ourselves. The two gardens are really beautiful. The girl on reception was so helpful and the girl in the coffee shop was equally helpful. I really got the feeling we were welcome. Great for photography. Don't be in a hurry here. Take time to sit and enjoy. The art gallery is contemporary as are the artistic pieces in the garden but someone has spent a lot of money here so don't complain. The coffee was lovely and the food really good with a limited choice. Less is more here. Not sure if the owners of the castle ever read this but if you do...thank you so much for allowing a couple of passing tourists to wander in your garden and enjoy some quality time with a cup of coffee surrounded by such friendly staff. Couldn't really rate this one highly enough!!

"Quick, Beautiful Visit" We visited Lismore Castle Gardens as an extra stop on bus tour from our British Isles Cruise. We had a little extra time and our driver and guide made a small detour so we could spend a little time in the Castle Gardens. Although we only had a short time, the gardens were just beautiful and we were excited to be able to spend some time there. Highly recommend a visit there.
