Glebe House Rathowen is a family run luxury Bed & Breakfast set in beautiful gardens and located in County Westmeath, Ireland's lake district. This historic B&B dates back to 1871 and offers excellent food and elegant accommodation, all within an hour of Dublin.
The spacious guestrooms are all en suite and have complimentary WiFi. Guests can explore wonderful country side, ancient churches, castles and abbeys.
First time staying here and it won't be the last, its been a while since I have seen an owner so passionate about the property that you get a guided tour which was actually better than some we have paid for :-)
The place is breath taking inside and all the rooms are finished to a high quality. The bedroom was fantastic and bathroom had everything you needed and I liked the idea the door used to be a secret wall. Jim made suggestions for the evening meal since we didn't know the area and even booked the table for us.
Unfortunately we didn't get to meet his partner but I have to say Jim more than made up for this with good conversation with ourselves and a lovely man from Germany. I must admit though the hours just rolled by and it turned out to be a late evening.
Breakfast was amazing and cooked to order with lots of toast and coffee.
Thank you for making us feel welcome and made the whole experience very enjoyable...hope you got to finish Gravity and enjoyed it :-)

“A wonderful experience”
In looking for a different way to spend a night away, we stumbled upon Glebe house. We had a wonderful evening in a magnificent house and exceptionally well looked after by our hosts. Jim and Martina achieve the perfect balance between being completely attentive and not in any way invasive. Well worth a visit.

“Excellent”
We had a lovely time here, and would definitely go back. It's a beautiful house set in tranquil grounds. Very comfortable accommodation, spotlessly clean, and superb breakfast before we set off. Lovely to open the curtains and see horses grazing outside. Easy access to anywhere in the midlands from here.
