"Friendly and Welcoming - HARD to Find"
Hard to find - but we did. George gives outstanding directions and once you arrive, you won't be sorry. We stayed in the Grey Room and it was lovely, comfortable and warm.

George is a kind man who makes you feel right at home and very comfortable. He has a cute dachshund who jumped in our car upon our departure. Would loved to have taken him home. We only stayed one night and did not have dinner because I don't eat game and did not want to trouble him with going to extra trouble for us.

That being said, he went to extra trouble the following morning when my husband wanted salmon with his eggs. His family was visiting and there was another American couple visiting the home so we sat and caught up with them for the evening over a bottle of wine and a fabulous fire. I loved this house ... it was a very special place to stay for our final night in Ireland after 19 days.

The next morning we had to leave early to head to Dublin for our flight home, so unfortunately we did not get to stay very long and enjoy the house or the grounds, but we got the idea - and so should you!

"Cannot wait to return"
This was the first stop on our honeymoon after an overnight, transatlantic flight and I can't imagine a better way to begin the trip. We were exhausted on arrival and rested up in the extremely comfortable room. George treated us to a wonderful homemade soup for lunch and we were off to check out the charming town of Ballinasloe, which was a treat in itself as it is not a tourist town.
We returned to the house and did some reading in the sitting room with some wonderful wine in front of a roaring fire before having what was my favorite meal of the entire trip. George is as accommodating as he is a marvelous cook. Just a wonderful, relaxing night.
Breakfast was terrific and we had some time to talk with George, who reviewed our itinerary and gave some great suggestions.
George has painstakingly restored the house and he's very proud of it- and has every right to be! The house is beautifully decorated with charming antiques and is truly unique. Can't wait to return!

Splendid :))
What a find ! George, you're an amazing man ;).

Trawling the internet for quality places to stay in Ireland, we came-upon Ballinderry Park which was close to a number of properties we wanted to view and not too far from Galway City. Took us a little-while to find the house as the location is not well signposted and we understand that is intentional to deter drive-by rubber-necking :).

Well, however the house is described won't do it justice, really and truly fabulous. You need to have a look through George's photo albums and sit and have conversations with him to truly understand what has taken-place here. As another reviewer wrote 'magical'.

Inside and out, this house is a splendid renovation, beautiful rooms, charming staff, excellent food and wines and sheer-pleasure to stay there. Dinners were amazing and breakfast just the ticket.

Sitting on the sofas by the fire in the reception room was a delight. On our first night here, we met absolutely charming people (two couples [one from Australia and one from USA] who have been taking vacations together for years) and, in the formal dining room, over lots of oooohs and aaaahs about the food and wine, laughed our way through dinner and through breakfast the following morning, in the less-formal but equally charming basement dining-room.

The proprietor, George, had to take-off for London and Dublin in the midst of our stay but he left us in the very capable hands of his staff who tend the house and look after the guests.

Not many rooms here so, advisable to get booked-up early.
