This Norwegian log house is surrounded by the picturesque mountains around Fort William. It’s a short drive into the centre for shops, restaurants and cosy local pubs, but the main highlight of the area is the myriad of hiking and biking trails through the mountainous Highlands, including the iconic Ben Nevis. The main living room is a vision of cabin cosiness, with a working wood stove at the centre. There are books and board games galore for quiet nights spent at home and a sprawling private garden should the sun come out. With several living rooms, you won't be short on space – our favourite is the first-floor lounge with breathtaking views of the rugged scenery.
Home truths: *One of the bedrooms has a double bed and a single, so we think it would best suit parents with a young child or three children sharing.
*Four bedrooms and two bathrooms are located on the ground floor.
*Your host can provide a cot, high chair and stair gates on request.
*Your host provides logs for the wood-burning stove.
*As this is a fairly remote location, having a car is recommended. There is private parking within the grounds for three cars, as well as secure bike storage.
