Villa Can Felix lies in the campo (countryside) just up the hill from the smallest village on Ibiza, Forada. It’s right at the end of at a long private driveway, and this means that you are completely secluded! All you can hear is the trees blowing in the wind, birds chirping and gekkos gecko-ing! The villa has a grand rustic style with open beams, terracotta floors, cosy very well stocked kitchen and five bedrooms including three ensuites so we feel it can accommodate 2 to 3 families with ease. There are some lovely outside spaces to enjoy. The long sociable wooden breakfast table gets the morning sun and has forest views over the valley. The front of the villa has a shady terrace and sun drenched courtyard. The huge pool measures 16 metres x 6 metres and is in a walled, gated area at the rear of the villa up a series of shallow steps. With 10 sun beds and a shady table area the pool is drenched in sun throughout the day until the sun sets.
Villa Can Felix is a much loved family home and has been in the family for over 50 years. At STAY YNA we stay in every home before you do and we can vouch for it’s comfort, style as we found it a real home from home.
Address Can Felix, Forada, San Antonio Province, Ibiza 07820
Floor/ Building 2 storey villa. Also there are a small number of steps between other living area levels.
Living area
The living area has a large traditional Ibicencan fireplace surrounded by a built in sofa area. There is a flat screen TV mounted on the wall with terrestrial UK channels such as BBC/ ITV/ Channel 4 and 5 and many more. This was really handy for us staying in early April, where after 8.30pm the sun had set and we cosied up inside to enjoy a bit of TV or games. Wifi as always is free in the villa. In peak season heat it’s still a great place to have a break from the sun!
The area also has a dining table seating six. This leads to a mezzanine level with another relaxing lounge area. There is a stereo with plenty of cd’s.
Kitchen/dining area
The kitchen has a warm, cosy, rustic feel and it certainly doesn’t disappoint in amenities. It has a large 5 ring gas range, microwave, large fridge freezer, toaster, kettle and cafetiere. There are a lot of cooking pots, pans, crockery and utensils catering for large groups.
Dining Room
The dining room is a real centre piece of the villa. Rustic charm combines with a dramatic high beamed ceiling, teamed with large urns, vases and embellishments adding to the historic feel of this charming country home. The large wooden doors lead out to the inviting terrace.
Bedrooms
There are five bedrooms. All lead off the main dining room. There are two double rooms with ensuite shower rooms and one twin room with an ensuite shower room. Further to this there is another twin room and a bedroom with 3 single beds. There is an extra shower room that services these rooms. We found the mattresses very comfortable and all the bedrooms have tiled floors, built in hanging space and shelves for clothes. The villa comes with two cots, one highchair and a playpen. Please note linen is not included for the baby cots.
It’s always hard to understand the layout of a large villa and where the bedrooms are situated. So make sure it’s perfect for you and take a walk around our 3D tour of Villa Can Felix.
Bathrooms
There are three ensuite shower rooms all decorated in simple white or yellow tiles with sink, toilet, bidets and showers. There is one separate communal shower room again with a toilet, bidet, sink and shower. We found all the showers powerful and hot water plentiful!
Outside space
Enjoy a relaxing breakfast with the morning sun shining on the terrace leading off from the kitchen. Chill out on front terrace with blooms and vines shading you from the sun. Or, stretch out on a sun lounger around the large sun drenched walled pool area with it’s own shady dining area. Private, peaceful and secluded areas perfect for groups.
Neighbourhood
Villa Can Felix is up a narrow track from Forada, the smallest village on Ibiza. It’s really just a cross road, but it’s a very sociable one! The Can Tixedo Art Café has a large variety of tapas and is busy day and night apart from Monday when it is closed. There is a small local market every Saturday from 10am until 4pm. Aside from local produce to buy, there are food stalls and people gather here to enjoy picnics. The paella stall is highly recommended! San Rafael is a 5 minute drive and has several good restaurants including a fabulous steak house opens 8pm daily, pizzeria (all restaurants apart from the steakhouse are closed Mondays) There is also small supermarket. San Antonio is only a 10 minute drive away and here you’ll find large supermarkets including a Mercadona and a Lidl. San Antonio is the clubbers paradise and has a large variety of restaurants if you want a more lovely night out. Gorgeous beach coves are aplenty and a 10-20 minute drive away. Cala Gracio is about 10 minute drive and lies next to San Antonio with a beach bar. Cala Salada is more secluded in pine forests and in the height of summer has longer walk to access the beach, but it’s beauty means it is very popular. Cala Bassa is a 20 minute drive with a fabulous beach restaurant CBbc and this was our favourite for ease of access/ plenty of parking and great for young kids. All beaches are very family friendly with shallow safe waters. Santa Gertrudis is a small town that lies in the centre of the island. It’s worth the 15 minute drive to visit Bar Costa (one of the oldest bars on the island) and is famous for its jamon serano and pan tomate tostado. Also Ibiza town is only a 20/25 minutes away.
Public Transport
We think a car is essential. But if you do want a night in San Antonio then taxis can be booked in advance.
Parking
There is parking for multiple cars in front of the villa. Please note the owner has three cars for their personal use (it is not a public parking space).
Naked Truth
Please be warned the driveway to the house is quite long and very bumpy. This is usual for villas in the campo (countryside) and leads to the most peaceful retreats.
Villa Can Felix is eco-friendly and is off the grid and uses solar power and even has its own water supply. Even though you wouldn’t notice the power supply for televisions, lighting and heating, you can experience phones and laptops being slower to charge – so keep them charged for longer.
The wonderful large pool is gated, so if there are children in your party then please lock the gates if adults are not present!
