Facilities The kitchen is well-equipped with electric oven, gas hob, combi microwave/oven/grill, fridge and dishwasher. Other equipment includes toaster, kettle, Smeg coffee machine, a variety of cookware, kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery and glasses. There is a dining area with seating for up to 8 guests. In the utility room is a washing machine and tumble dryer, and there is a ground floor toilet with hand basin. In the living room there's a Smart TV and comfortable seating. The sofa can convert into a sofa-bed for up to two guests on request (supplement of £25 for use of the sofa bed). In the separate snug there is a gas-fired 'wood-burner' for those cosy evenings in and a bit more space for larger groups.
The three bedrooms and two bathroom are upstairs, accessed via two separate staircases: At one end of the cottage, the (standard) stairs leads up to bedroom 1 which has a king-size bed, and the bathroom comprising claw-foot bath with hand-held shower attachment, toilet and hand basin. At the other end of the cottage an unusual spiral staircase (narrow curved steps with hand rail) leads up to the other two bedrooms, one has a double bed and the other bunk beds. The en-suite is accessed from either of these bedrooms (with 'Jack and Jill' doors) and comprises a large shower cubicle, toilet and hand basin.
Travel cot, high chair and stair gates can be provided (please bring your own bedding for the cot).
A hair dryer is provided for your convenience.
Electricity and heating costs are included in the price of your accommodation. The cottage has LPG central heating which can be adjusted to suit your preferences and the seasons. Wifi is provided and is good quality for voice and video calling if needed.
Bed linen, duvets, blankets and towels are provided for your convenience, but please bring your own beach towels if you wish to take towels with you on day trips.
There may be non-perishable items like a salt, pepper and a few herbs or spices available. Cleaning materials such as washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets/powder, and surface cleaner will be present in the property. Two toilet rolls will be provided per toilet and hand wash.
Dogs are welcome, maximum of 2 dogs per booking. Please do not leave your dogs unattended in the cottage at any time.
Location Winsford is a picturesque Exmoor village, in the heart of Exmoor National Park and is an ideal spot to explore Exmoor from, whether that's on foot or in the car. For nature lovers, deer and wild ponies roam the moor above, and many birds live along the River Exe, which winds through the village. For anyone that loves to stargaze, Exmoor National Park is an International Dark Sky Reserve and home to some of the darkest skies in the country. On a clear night, the night sky of Exmoor is absolutely stunning, with many astronomical sights viewable with the naked eye. For hikers and cyclists, there are miles are footpaths plus there are opportunities for horse riding and fishing too. The famous 12th century thatched Royal Oak Inn is in the 'centre' of the village, it serves great food and is family friendly.
Wheddon Cross, approximately 4 miles from Winsford, is a small village with a mini-supermarket (with long opening hours), post office, ATM and petrol station. Dulverton, around 7 miles away, is a small town known as the southern gateway to Exmoor. Dulverton also has a mini-supermarket plus a butcher, post office, some lovely restaurants and independent shops.
Minehead is the main town in West Somerset, approximately 14 miles from Winsford. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco, Morrisons and Lidl are all situated on the outskirts of the town), high street banks/cash machines, plus a range of other shops, including health food stores.
