Marrying modern interior design with original, Grade II-listed features, this converted granary in the heart of St Davids is an excellent base from which to explore the Pembrokeshire seaside. The exposed stone walls, timber beams and old lifeboat oars add a coastal cosiness to the living space – we loved relaxing beneath the vaulted ceilings, tucked up on the sofa with a hot mug of tea after a long walk through the countryside.
Enjoy a spot of lunch together at the dining table before throwing on your sunhat and taking the twenty-minute amble down to Caerfai Beach. At low tide, there are rock pools for searching and shallows for paddling in. Finish the afternoon with a stroll around the tiny city centre – St Davids Cathedral and the brooding Gothic ruins of the Bishop’s Palace are only a three-minute walk from your doorstep.
