Property Overview

Robin's Brook is a terraced hundred-year-old former quarryman's cottage located in a quiet spot on a no-through road at the edge of the charming and thriving coastal village of Porlock, Somerset. It is an ideal location from which to explore Exmoor National Park, with a host of challenging but breathtakingly scenic walking routes leading from the doorstop, yet also within comfortable walking distance (approx 15 mins) of convenient village amenities such as shops, pubs, cafes, galleries, and traditional tea rooms. Guests can enjoy relaxing in the property’s large enclosed garden just across the lane, while the more active and ambitious visitors can turn right directly outside the door to follow a bridleway all the way through the woods and up to Hawkcombe Head to explore the stunning moorland scenery while possibly encountering red deer and Exmoor ponies along the way.

Facilities
Downstairs there is a cosy lounge with an open fire. There is a separate dining room - we have had to board up the fire place in this room so it is out of action. There's a TV, DVD, lots of books and games for rainy days and lazy evenings in front of the fire. Both rooms have views across the combe. The kitchen is to the rear of the cottage and is equipped with an electric oven, hob, fridge (with ice box), microwave, electric kettle, toaster, and washer-dryer. (Please note there isn't a separate freezer.)

Upstairs is the bathroom, comprising shower over the bath, toilet and hand basin. The two bedrooms are also upstairs, one double bed and one twin room, both have views to the front of the cottage and you can hear the stream running alongside the garden at the front.

Wifi, central heating and electricity are included. Coal and logs are available in Porlock. (We may be able to provide nets of logs for a small charge if you give us a week's notice.)

All bed linen, towels and tea towels will be provided. Please bring your own beach towels if you wish to take them outside the cottage on day trips.

Please note, there is no cot, stair gate, or highchair.

Location
Porlock is a wonderful working Exmoor village and boasts three pubs, two grocery shops, a traditional local butcher, chemist, cash machine, petrol station, hardware shop, visitor centre, several art galleries and a range of independent restaurants, shops and tea rooms.

Porlock Weir is approximately 1.5 miles from Porlock and is well worth a visit. There's a pub, restaurant, and take-away plus a range of individual shops such as tea rooms, Exmoor Glass, etc.

Many of the shops in Porlock and Porlock Weir are open during traditional hours of 9 am to 5 pm, although hours are often extended during the summer season. Conversely, some shops also reduce their opening hours out of season.

Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 6 miles from Porlock. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco, Morrison's and Lidl are both situated on the outskirts of the town and have longer opening hours), most major high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops throughout the town.
