The mid-century farmhouse in the Catalonian countryside feels as though it has endless rooms and amenities. First of all, there are two swimming pools – one indoor and one outdoor – so you don’t have to wait for a sunny day to get your laps in. There’s a dedicated barbecue shed, covered and with a full outdoor kitchen, and a lawn big enough to play football (with goals set up). Then there’s the view. From the terraces and patios, you’ve got a panorama of the hazy pre-Pyrenees mountains.
Inside, there is plenty to keep you entertained too – a games room with foosball, air hockey and ping pong, and an absolutely massive dining table on the first floor, facing a wall of glass for a beautiful mountain view as you dine. The sleek, modern kitchen has everything you need to whip up a family feast and the bedrooms embrace the old-world charm of the villa with exposed stone walls.
From here it’s easy to explore the pretty towns of central Catalonia by car. Gironella, perched on a river, is a fifteen-minute drive and you can reach Vic in half an hour. For the ultimate cultural day trip, perhaps head to Barcelona, just over an hour’s drive away.
Home truths: *In a remote location, having a car is recommended and there is plenty of private parking
*One of the bedrooms has seven single beds, so there would be a lot of people sharing at capacity
*Two of the bedrooms have three single beds and two have a double and an additional single
*Pets are accepted here, but please discuss with your host beforehand
