Although the exterior might give it away, you’d never be able to tell that this beautifully renovated home used to be part of the old stables for the village manor. Since it’s had new life breathed into it, the now-cottage is very quaint and combines contemporary touches with countryside charm to create a comfortable space in which to relax. And relax you certainly will – just imagine entire mornings sprawled out on the brown, leather sofa as you reread Jane Eyre for the fifth time, drinking one cup of coffee after another. You might even venture out to the picnic-style bench to sit amongst the green as you unwind and imagine your own story playing out in the fresh, countryside air.
Come together in the kitchen for breakfast, eating a Full English at the round wooden table before heading out for a day. The walk to York is around forty minutes, but there are many beautiful scenes to take in along the way. Further afield, you can use the home as a base to explore Harrogate or Leeds, although you’d need a car for these trips.
Positioned outside of town, this home feels quiet and peaceful, so rejuvenating here shouldn’t be difficult at all. We recommend long soaks in the tub, afternoon naps on the plush beds, sneaking away to the kitchen to eat the last of the fudge, and sitting out under the stars to laugh with friends and family.
