The Old Laundry theatre and the Beatrix Potter World attraction are separated by 1.5 kilometres. It takes 30 minutes to walk to Orrest Head to take in the breathtaking vista of far-reaching views over the lake and nearby fells, which served as the inspiration for Alfred Wainwright to create his series of renowned guidebooks. The historic villages of Grasmere, Ambleside, and Troutbeck are only a short drive away, as is Brockhole, which provides high wire tree top experiences. For those with greater energy, marine centres near the lake offer a range of watersports.
