Portobello Road might be famous for its markets and shops selling antiques and vintage clothing, but this apartment on an adjoining street is all about the here and now. It's found in a new apartment block and there are no renovated period interiors here — just a sleek white kitchen, wooden floors throughout and large floor-to-ceiling windows that invite the sunshine inside. Our favourite feature had to be the balcony with a pleasant view out over a local park, which would be a lovely spot on which to enjoy a late-morning brunch. However, if you don't fancy cooking, the cafes and restaurants of Notting Hill are a ten-minute saunter from your front door. Alternatively, if you're up for a longer walk, you can walk along the canal until you reach Little Venice, which will take you less than an hour.
Home truths: *There's a cot and high chair available if required *Access to the balcony is made through one of the bedrooms, so you might have to flip a coin for who gets it *There's no parking space at this property, although Ladbroke Grove station is only seven minutes away on foot
