In the summer months, catch the small passenger ferry across the river to the charming fishing village of Appledore with its narrow streets and maritime history, or travel a little further and uncover the treasures of nearby Croyde, Woolacombe and Saunton Sands. There are numerous National Trust properties in the area, as well as the RHS gardens at Rosemoor. North Devon is well positioned for visits to Exmoor, Dartmoor and North Cornwall and for families The Big Sheep, The Milky Way Adventure Park and a boat trip to Lundy Island are all great days out.
