Nestled on the north bank of the famed salmon and trout river is the capital of Coquetdale, Rothbury, which is surrounded by heather clad hills. The pretty market town is near Northumberland's National Park, providing the perfect setting for scenic walks, and is lined with stone houses. The town is home to a range of shops, and close by there is a tennis court, a golf course and cycle hire, as well as Cragiside and Alnwick Castle for exploring the history of the area.
