Scenery doesn’t come much more impressive than this. The towering mountains of Madeira’s north coast protect the verdant green valley of São Vicente and when the sun tinges the folds of this landscape golden, there’s nothing quite like it. Those that are in the area for the breathtaking hiking trails can catch a glimpse of what’s to come from the private terrace. As the mountains rise up around you, the orange roofs of São Vicente cascade down to the deep blue Atlantic. You can walk down to the waterfront from here, where you’ll find a handful of seafood restaurants, bars and cafes.
After hitting the Levada dos Cardais or Levada Fajã do Rodrigues hiking trails, there’s nothing better than firing up the Jacuzzi tub on the terrace and soaking weary muscles. Those that prefer to take it easy can just appreciate the view from here. There’s room to dine on the mosaic-tiled terrace too, with a brick-built barbecue for alfresco cooking. Should the weather turn, you can snuggle up on the big L-shaped sofa inside and perhaps select something for the collection of holiday reads. Dishes don’t have to be a chore in the kitchen, with a long window showing off the mountain view above the sink. Bedrooms are soothing spaces of wicker accents and natural stone and wood palettes, and both have access to the terrace.
