Dating back to 1795, Belmullet Coastguard Station has been beautifully restored into two separate houses. The self catering accommodation comprises of 3 spacious double bedrooms, (2 en suite), a main bathroom, with bath & electric shower.
The kitchen is modern and contains a dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and a solid fuel stove, (turf & timber provided). All bed linen & towels supplied. The living room is situated upstairs in what would have been the look out tower in the original building. The balconies offer fantastic views of Belmullet town to the North and Achill and Blacksod bay to the South.
The Island is linked to the mainland via a causeway and offers some beautiful walks along miles of sandy beaches. A walk around the North side of the Island is a must, where Seals and Otters can be spotted from the cliff top. Various birds can also be observed. Rock fishing is a relaxing way to pass an evening. Caves can be explored at low tide, (seek local advice before setting off).
Erris offers many attractions, Carne golf course, Uisce watersports centre & the Gateway leisure centre are all within a 15 minute drive. Belmullet offers a variety of bars and award winning restaurants to satisfy all tastes.
"Magical location, wonderful house" Stayed for a week with my kids in this beautiful location with 360 views of the sea and across to the Erris peninsula and Achill. Just a short walk down a country lane past some donkeys to a long sheltered sandy beach great for walking and sandcastle building. The old coast guard station house has kept its character but has been thoroughly modernised to make a warm, homely really comfortable house with gorgeous sea views. The farm (and fresh eggs) and warm welcome from hosts an added bonus. A magical escape from it all. Will return!

"Perfect family holiday location" Three generations of our family have just enjoyed a great week in this wonderful property. Stunning location, superb accommodation with beautiful deserted beaches. We arrived late due to flight delays but Laurence met us to guide us across the causeway at high tide with such a friendly welcome. Everything was in place for our 9 month old granddaughter with cot and high chair etc. I cannot recommend this place enough. Thank you to all the Laurence family for helping to make it such a special week on so many levels. PS The rhubarb and ginger jam was delicious !
