With unbeatable views over Alfama and only a short walk away from the river, this home is in a perfect location for urban exploration on foot. Acapulco-style lounge chairs on the terrace and cool minimalist furnishings give it a slight Scandinavian vibe, while the panorama windows make sure there's always ample daylight in the living room. The art is tasteful and well-curated, our favourite being the simple abstract painting in the kitchen.

* Storage for the second bedroom is located in the hallway, not the bedroom itself
* The kitchen doesn't have a lot of cooking surfaces to work with
* There are several steps leading to the elevator—those with limited mobility or heavy suitcases beware
