Area The picturesque village of Upwey lies just four miles north of Weymouth, nestling beneath the Dorset Ridgeway, and takes its name from the shallow chalk stream, the River Wey, which bubbles up here from an underground spring. Upwey is well-known for its Wishing Well, where George III once sought the benefits of the natural spring water. It is now a delightful tea room, serving lunches and traditional cream teas. There are a number of footpaths leading directly from the village to miles of unspoilt countryside, and close by is the market town of Dorchester, Thomas Hardy’s ’Casterbridge’. An easy drive or bus ride takes you to the popular seaside resort of Weymouth offering visitors glorious golden sandy beaches, excellent watersports facilities and a bustling harbour. An attractive village location and an ideal place to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

We have just spent a long weekend here with two teenagers. Smart tvs and hairdryers in every bedroom are brilliant for families. Two very good sized bathrooms. Very well equipped kitchen. Light and airy open plan layout. We are already planning another stay!

Superb location! An idyllic village with numerous footpaths to explore the local countryside. The perfect base to explore the Dorset coast and surrounding attractions. Casterbridge offered perfect accommodation for our family. The design and cleanliness was of a very high standard and the owner/manager provided excellent support when needed.

We have just completed a wonderful week staying in Casterbridge. It is a lovely modern cottage with everything you could wish for - and enough WiFi bandwidth to keep 4 teenage girls and their parents entertained through stormy weather! The two twin rooms were ideal for our daughters and their friends. We enjoyed a lovely suite of our own with plenty of room and a wonderful en suite. There was plenty of garden space outside for our dog to enjoy between the rain showers. The kitchen and living room were very well fitted out and we were able to cook with ease and enjoy meals for six around the table with space for all of us. The owner was immediately responsive to any questions we had. The cottages are new and in a beautiful setting in a lovely old part of the village. We could enjoy walks by the river straight from our door. We have already recommended it and will certainly be staying again!

Just spent a brilliant week here in this new modern cottage. Great location for our visit to walking the coastal paths - in fact very pretty walks straight from the door. Very close to Weymouth and Dorchester with their excellent restaurants and entertainments. Lovely facilities and very well layed out accommodation which worked really well for 4 teenage girls and my wife and myself. They had their own rooms and we had a lovely separate double room with excellent en suite. Kitchen and lounge layout works really well with plenty of room to cook and eat altogether with lots of light and double height open plan spaces. Kitchen well fitted and stocked with equipment. Lots of well lit space outside so very easy for our dog. Plenty of parking. There is a fibre wifi with more than enough bandwidth to entertain all of us with films and games during some stormy weather. The owner Helen was immediately responsive to any enquiries. We had a great time and would certainly recommend this place to anyone. We will certainly be going back.
