Area
Situated in the foothills of the Snowdonia Mountain Range, Llanrug is a small village with two pubs and a shop just three miles from the famous town of Llanberis. Popular amongst walkers, this tranquil settlement is set beneath the Snowdon Massif and flanked by the Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris lakes. As one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Snowdonia National Park, Llanberis is an ideal spot for walkers and climbers to gather, particularly during the annual Snowdon marathon. For the less energetic holidaymaker, trains travel to the summit at regular intervals giving those unable to climb to the peak a chance to enjoy the incredible views. Back in the town itself there are a number of excellent places to eat and drink as well as a great choice of shops.

Beautiful conversion with a luxurious hotel feel, loads of space and areas to sit to eat or to play games or just relax. Close to many nice places but Llanrug is by no means a tourist village so the property really stands out and you feel a little like an imposter at times. Luckily the coach park opposite was quite due to covid restrictions too! The locals in the pub were very friendly and helpful, the local shop owners less so! Shame this apartment does not have access to the seating area outside as it is reserved for the downstairs apartment. There is a table in the gravelled car park but it is surrounded by building materials which is a shame as it is actually a sun trap in the afternoon! Loads of great things to do relatively locally including horse riding or water sports. We hired a guide from the local activity centre for the day and went kayaking and Coasteering. No noise could be heard from the 2 families below but they could clearly hear us which was awkward as it rather puts a curfew on things if they have young families or like an early night! A spare key would be good as the shared property entrance is on a deadlock and the key safe outside the door meaning we couldn’t leave the kids in alone if we took a key as they wouldn’t have been able to get out! Pretty risky to be honest! The owner said he was too far away to bring us one too and to just leave the door open but the other guests locked it as they had small children rightly!

Had a great week at Capel Mawr. What a beautiful conversion of the upper floor of the chapel. There was plenty of space for us all. Everything was clean and tidy and everything worked as it should. Large kitchen area with large range cooker, american fridge/freezer, dishwasher etc. made it easy to cater for our clan. The owner was very helpful and went out of his way to make sure that our stay was a very pleasurable one. We will be back.

A beautiful, spacious and clean property to stay in. The chapel is comfortable, warm and unique. The owner was welcoming and well informed about where to visit. It will be hard to find such an impressive property to rent for future holidays.

Three friends and I have just returned from a weeks' holiday at this stunning apartment. Yes it is an old building, and, in places, the walls are not as smooth as a modern building, but this is only to be expected.... yes, there is a door that probably does link the apartment to the owners ' own property, but at the top of the stairs is your own front door, which is secured with your own key. We had a lovely, relaxed week, visiting Llanberis, Llandudno, Betws-y-Coed, Electric Mountain and Anglesey. We found the apartment to be well furnished and had all that you could want or need for a comfortable holiday, in a very spacious apartment. We would highly recommend this apartment, but maybe not for young families, as there is no outside space for children to play...

As I drove up to the property I was expecting to see the beautiful structure that is shown in the pictures, what I actually got was a structure surrounded by scaffolding. On entering the property it was clean and tidy, but the promise of using an american fridge did not happen as it was not working, there is a medium sized fridge freezer tucked away on the left of the kitchen area looking on from the doorway in, some of the sockets did not look secure, as they where loose or had gaps at the back. The views where not there due to the scaffolding. I felt very let down and disapointed. I rang sykes the following day and they moved me to another holiday accomadation. The owner had been contacted and he offered me a miniscule reduction for the lose of the view, I felt insulted by the offer. The property I went on to was much better.

Myself and two friends booked this cottage for the entire of Christmas. The building is beautiful and has tons of character, which original wood work. We cooked Christmas dinner and sat at a beautiful table over looking original windows.

Dez, the property owner lives in the outhouse away from the property and we had the entire property to ourselves the entire stay. He is very friendly and you hardly know he's there. He talked about renovation of the building and that he's kept as much of the original features as possible.

The whole stay was fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone who likes character and a beautiful converted building.

Totally unreasonable landlord which led to events involving the police. He has a discreet internal door from his hidden residence underneath directly into your living area. He likes to let himself in when you're not home as we discovered. The place looks lovely and it is but stay somewhere else, it's not worth the hassle.

This is a fairly long story but I'll try and keep it as short as I can. Firstly this holiday let has it's own grave yard, if this doesn't bother you, try this. As you walk through the front door, to the left is a secret door that leads to the owners section of the building. It doesn't look like a door and cannot be locked from the accomodation side. The owner can and does come and go as he pleases. We didn't realise it was a door until we had to involve the police. Also, as I experienced first hand, the owner leaves the premises unoccupied with candles burning in his half of the building. Not very safety conscious!! My son booked this let in rather a hurry and inadvertantly booked for 4 adults and 2 children, there was infact 6 adults and 2 infants one aged 2 years & one aged 10months. This shouldn't have made any difference so we weren't unduely worried. However on the Tuesday the owner decided this was over booked. My son offered to pay more, but on return from a day out at 7pm in the evening on the Wednesday the owner had entered the accomodation internally and wedged something in the key hole locking us out. He wouldn't answer his phone. Sykes cottages informed my son that the owner would open the door in the morning and may give access to the belongings locked inside. This included nappies and baby food. What kind of person throws families with infants out into the night without warning?? The police were called who eventually got us into the building. This was 8.30 in the evening. It cost us in total another £645 for hotel accomodation(and we were lucky to find this) and our holiday cut short by 1 night. He has refused to give any refund. Avoid.
