Four adults, toddler, baby and dog had a wonderful long weekend here. Wish we’d have booked longer. We loved our stay here. Very homely and lots to entertain the three year old. We became air hockey champions. If you forget anything, do not worry because it’s here already. Fresh flowers on the table, milk in the fridge very welcome on arrival. Child friendly, enclosed front garden area to let children and dog roam safely. Would highly recommend, a wonderful base for exploring the area and very comfortable for a family night in.

Pros- large drive - well equipped kitchen

Cons- rundown , stained carpets, broken back door handle so not safe - we propped stuff up at the door to deter intruders- toilet seat old and cracked -broken zipped together bed, cobwebs inside and outside windows- slug trails on carpets- ripped pool table - stained pouffe and sofas - ripped sofa- overgrown rose bush at front door so snags and scaratches each time you enter and leave. reported to house maintenance and Sykes cottages 1st day of holiday - no response for 11 days! No apology from either!
Our 2nd visit definitely won’t be returning!!
Shame as the owner and maintenance team could have rectified a lot of these issues whilst we were there.

Had a fabulous stay at Beggars Roost, I cannot recommend enough! It’s in the middle of nowhere, your only neighbour is a beautiful highland cow next door and Healey’s Cyder Farm which is conveniently located diagonally opposite over the road. We even got complimentary entry and cream teas for the Cyder farm which we was really grateful for. A fab morning was had here.

The accommodation itself was lovely. Big and spacious, the games room was a hit with its 3-in-1 games you could play! Also the spinning sofa chairs were nice to games lounge too.

Things to note:

- There is an active graveyard behind the premises which we knew anyway due to previous reviews but just something to be aware of. You do see the odd person pop in and out but there’s never many. (Not talking about ghosts by the way)

- Because they allow dogs, there was the odd dog toy lying around and the living room did have a slight dog-odour about it. It wasn’t too much of an issue, but when you first went in to the room it did hit you and was slightly overpowering.

- The Wi-fi was pretty shocking. Very intimitent, so be prepared for not the best of internet whilst you stay here. That was quite disappointing for me.

- No bin in the super king bedroom with the twin beds. A simple fix!

- The board games as stated on the listing were no where to be seen.

Besides the factors pointed out, this place is a wonderful accommodation and I would overall recommend it. It’s a great base, very central and close to Newquay and Perranporth.
