Apple & Clover might not be in the most famous (and therefore the most touristy) areas, but the lack of crowds outside the front door is something we can live with. It’s still very easy to get in to places like Baixa, and the restaurants here are better (and better value) anyway. The flat itself has high ceilings and big windows, so even though it faces inward, there’s still plenty of light. It’s in magnificent condition – something that João is rightly proud of – and even though no one lives there full-time, it still feels warm and welcoming.
Home truths: *Even though the flat is on the ground floor, there's a short flight of steps to reach it
*Unfortunately there's no washing machine in the flat
*Two people can sleep on a double sofa bed in the living room, but they wouldn't have much privacy
