Property Overview
The Balmoral is located in the very heart of Edinburgh at No 1 Princes Street, the city’s main shopping area. With views of Edinburgh Castle, the Scott Monument and Arthur’s Seat, the skirl of the bagpipes is always within earshot of The Balmoral.
Opened on October 15th 1902, the hotel was originally known as the North British. Acclaimed as one of the great railway hotels, it originally boasted 300 bedrooms and 52 bathrooms. It was later renamed The Balmoral — which means “majestic dwelling” in Gaelic.
Comfortable and welcoming, the Balmoral Hotel features smaller rooms combining contemporary design with classic Scottish charm which are ideal for both business and leisure. Each room has a queen size bed. The spacious bathrooms have been designed with ceramic and marble. The open-plan suites provide spacious and elegant surroundings to unwind and relax when travelling either for business or leisure.
The kilted doormen will guide you across the threshold one of the finest hotels in Edinburgh. The hotel concierge will guide you towards Edinburgh’s modern boutiques and bars, theatres and museums.
This luxury 5-star hotel merges contemporary styling with elegant tradition, like the colours of a fine tartan weave. It’s a place where you can enjoy Michelin-starred dining at the ‘Number One’ restaurant and discover the city’s largest selection of whiskies in the Scotch bar.
