Formidable group self catering destination. Unique opportunity to rent a monumental six-hundred-year-old Norman Castle close to Navan in Co. Meath and within thirty minutes of Dublin city.
Dating back to the early 1400's the castle still retains many of the original vaulted rooms complete with ancient plasterwork.
Now a recorded Irish monument, the castle has characteristics which span centuries, from the middle ages right through the Victorian era.
Accommodation There are eight spacious double bedrooms in total. Downstairs you have the kitchen, hall, dining room; while the drawing room & music room are interconnected making it ideal for large parties.
The property is decorated in a sympathetic but eclectic style with antique mingling with junk shop treasures.
Location County Meath boasts several remarkable historic and prehistoric sites including New Grange, Lough Crew and Tara. Horse riding, fishing and hunting are all available locally.
Visitors can also experience fascinating walks either on the beaches or in the Woodlands. The local town has traditional Irish pubs and an art centre. There are several well-known restaurants in Navan town.
The Castle is available for private events, weddings, Christmas parties, family and corporate gatherings.
Terriann February 2020 Sue and Dave were the best host ever! We traveled from the U.S for my father’s 80th birthday.. 16 in all! The castle was exquisite with every amenity you can expect! We arranged to have private dinners on two nights and they were absolutely delicious! They accommodated our group which included 2 children and a Vegan. We had breakfast provisions in the refrigerator every morning and had fun cooking as a family. The days we spent touring we would come back to a fire lit, warm and welcoming. What a special touch! We also recommend Ollie Molloy for transportation and tours. Very knowledgeable and patient. Causey farm is a MUST! So much fun! Thank you again Sue, Dave and staff for a memorable trip! We had the most amazing time at Sue's castle, her hospitality, food, kindness, (and I could keep going) left us with the most beautiful memories of a beautiful wedding and gathering of friends and family. This place has it all. Thank you so much Sue and family for everything that you have to offer, it truly was the most magical weekend that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. 5*****

Great grounds, amazing bedrooms, fabulous and responsive hosts who were fun to meet and helpful with suggestions for what to do and see. This seems like it's primarily a wedding venue and lodging for wedding guests on weekends, my only complaint is that the kitchen- while so great with an Aga and conventional stove and a huge fridge- was not uniformly set up for cooking: about 100 coffee cups and only 3 cutting knives that were in pretty tough condition. As this is my only complaint, you can tell we had a really great time and the hosts were fabulous.

What a great place to relax at the end of a busy day touring the Boyne Valley. Sue and Dave prepared delicious meals that we all 15 (ages 10-68) of us enjoyed. We felt like we were attending the Kings feast each night. Michelle, Marta and the other ladies who cared for us were kind, helpful, friendly and fun. Whether we were practicing new hurling skills or playing games in the evening, the castle provided great spaces for us to enjoy ourselves. What a perfect place for our family to create beautiful lifetime memories together.
