O'Grady's on the Pier: Galway

With tumbling waves on a sandy beach and the cry of seagulls and the sun setting over the ocean, you will have a dining experience you won't forget in a hurry.
This award-winning restaurant is located in the idyllic village of Barna on the shores of Galway Bay, 6km from Galway City Centre, and, being close to the sea, has instant access to daily catches, bringing unbeatable freshness to every dish. Specialising in oysters, mussels, fresh fish, crabs, scallops and lobster, O'Grady's on the Pier exhibits great attention to detail, always utilising the best seasonal produce.
The charming nautical-themed interior boasts real fires, candles in the windows, fresh flowers, and cheerful, attentive service. There is an extensive selection of wines and beers, including six house wine options.

With a prime location on Barna Pier, it's a seaside fisherman's catch at its best.

O'Grady's on the Pier has been the lucky recipient of numerous awards over the years. Among these are the “Best Seafood Experience 2011”, adjudged by the Restaurant Association of Ireland and the prestigious Hotel & Catering Review Gold Medal Award for "Best Bistro & Brasseries" in 2009. We were also delighted to accept the "Best Seafood Restaurant in Ireland" 2008 award from Georgina Campbell.

"Birthday dinner"
This restaurant was selected for my wife’s Birthday dinner by Fairways and FunDays. The food was really delicious, the staff friendly and helpful (as we decided to change our order a little bit) and the view from the second floor is beautiful. Worth every cent spent.

"Super seafood"
We were there recently on a quiet Tuesday evening and Id have to say it was a fabulous meal, the seafood (I had halibut) was superb. The veg were lovely too, and the staff, Mags the Manageress in particular were very attentive and friendly. We'll be back the next time we are in Galway for sure. If you like seafood in a lovely setting looking at the Atlantic, go there.

"Splendid Sunday lunch"
A delightful meal in a very cosy room overlooking the sea. Our second visit- this time seated upstairs in front of a picture window affording great views of the shore and the coast of North Clare which gradually became clearer as the mist lifted -the setting added greatly to our enjoyment. Fresh bread got us off to a good start before the fish-a glorious plate of simply cooked plaice with a little crab dressing- simply delicious. Potatoes and Vegetables were beautifully cooked. We chose a French Pinot Noir - a great match with the fish.
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch- will have to come back another time to try dessert!

What an amazing place!
Beautiful views, delicious food expertly served by friendly, efficient staff.
We enjoyed a lovely, relaxed lunch with our family, celebrating my husband’s birthday and were delighted when the staff brought out a delicious dessert and the entire room sang ‘Happy Birthday’
The chefs, waiters and manager deserve to be congratulated.
