I spent two glorious nights in Lorum Old Rectory with a friend last weekend. It was lmy first visit and my friend’s second. I felt like I had come home, thanks in the main to the wonderful Bobbi and her daughter Rebecca. Lorum is a beautifully authentic old house, situated up a long avenue bordered by fields with sheep and lambs. The house itself is glorious. It is warm, inviting, and gracious but, at the same time, sits like an old Duchess amid beautiful but relaxed antiques, family photos, and log fires, lit at all times. The bedrooms were very big and spacious, with elegant sash windows and as warm as could be. Each room was kitted out with everything anyone could need. It was home from home. When we went up to bed both nights our electric blankets had been turned on for us, as we slipped into luxurious bliss! Rebecca prepared our delicious gourmet dinner for us as myself and my friend sipped our drinks in the drawing room. The dining room was beautiful with another blazing fire. On the second night we dined out with friends in Kilkenny. When we returned two other guests, Jeff and Jim from Washington DC, were in the drawing room having drinks with Bobbi and Rebecca and discussing world events. We joined them and it felt like we had all known each other for years. Thank you Lorum, amid your gorgeous ancestry, for a totally relaxing and wonderful stay, it was just too short. Bobbi and Rebecca, thank you both so so much too, for welcoming us into the heart of your beautiful, gracious and relaxed home. We will be back again and again. Hidden Ireland can certainly boast an enchanting gem in Lorum
