Lake Como has become something of a celebrity hotspot, and we can't blame them – there’s no place we'd rather be for a relaxed escape. While a little less humble than Madonna's lakeside villa, you can get a slice of the star's lifestyle by staying in this renovated top-floor apartment, with a terrace overlooking the terracotta rooftops of Como city. A romantic spot, with its grey and white scheme, chandeliers and opulent queen-size bed, it makes the perfect northern Italian break for two. It's within easy reach of lakeside restaurants, walking routes and boat trips. Thick stone walls keep it warm in winter and cool in summer, but there’s also air conditioning, so you can always escape the midday heat. Should you ever need a little more action, it’s just an hour’s drive to Milan’s main airports and into the city itself, for shopping, restaurants and unmissable sights like the Duomo.
