Cottage in Mid Wales: Powys

Accommodating up to eight guests, this retreat is set within private grounds with far reaching views across the Black Mountains. It is peacefully tucked away on the fringes of Clyro, within only 1.5 miles of Hay on Wye. This cultural market town is famed for the annual book festival; you can lose yourself in one of the many bookstores, or enjoy a morning coffee whilst watching the world go by. A weekly farmers market offers fresh local produce and crafts, The Globe hosts a variety of live music, comedians and plays, and a cinema offers an eclectic choice of movies. For some medieval history, visit the newly restored Hay Castle, open to the public for the first time in its 900 year history, with interactive displays, galleries, regular exhibitions and events, and a shop and café. Walkers are well served with access onto the Offa s Dyke footpath and Wye Valley Walk. For a quieter and easier stroll, but still with spectacular views, the Roundabout Walk on The Begwns above Clyro is a good one to start with. Enjoying a peaceful location, this stone retreat wraps around a private enclosed courtyard. Guests enter into the main body of the cottage, the open plan living space, which has been elegantly finished with simple furnishings and a contemporary twist, including French doors that open onto the private courtyard. The space is perfect for friends wanting to relax and entertain. A well equipped kitchen, with everything that you may need for preparing meals, enjoys an open aspect into the dining area where guests can gather around the generously sized table to enjoy a celebration supper. There is a utility room which offers additional storage and is perfect for food preparation. A lounge area with wood burner is perfect for relaxing after a day out exploring the local area. The property offers a second reception space with large sofas, a great collection of books, board games and a TV. There is also a handy separate WC. This single storey accommodation offers guests the choice of five bedrooms suitable for up to eight guests. This flexible arrangement includes two super king size rooms to the far side of the barn, both with en suite bathrooms with shower over bath and WC. There is also a spacious double room, a single room and a further single room that is set within the eaves of the barn. A large shower room with WC services these rooms. Outside, there is a private courtyard with a lawn and pretty borders, as well as two olive trees that give the property its name. Table and chairs allow for outdoor summer dining, and the fire pit will keep you warm on those cooler evenings.
