Cottage in Lancashire: Lancashire

Walkers and cyclists will be delighted by the range of scenic tracks and trails near this sympathetically refurbished barn conversion. For golfers, local courses include Formby Hall (4.5 miles), Hurlston Hall (5.5 miles) and Royal Birkdale (6.5 miles), the home of The Open. Animal lovers will enjoy the wildlife spotting opportunities around the site guests may see barn owls and buzzards, as well as hares and pheasants. In addition, the Martin Mere Wetland Centre (9 miles) is home to various wildlife and birds. Stroll along the sandy shores at Formby (7 miles), named by the Sunday Times as one of the UK's best beaches thanks to its miles of pristine sands, dunes, pine forest, fossils and ocean liners, or discover the Freshfield/Formby National Trust red squirrel sanctuary. Other nearby beaches include Ainsdale (5 miles), Crosby (12 miles), and Southport (8.5 miles). For a spot of retail therapy, head into Birkdale with its independent shops, bars and restaurants, sample the local farm shops or head into the metropolitan city of Liverpool (13 miles) for shopping and entertainment on a larger scale. Surrounded by tranquil countryside and open views over the owner s farmland, this stunning barn conversion is the perfect place for a relaxing break. The lovingly converted former pig shed boasts stylish and contemporary interiors, whilst still retaining many original features such as exposed beams and brick walls. Step through the doorway into the entrance hall, perfect for leaving coats and muddy boots after a day exploring, and into the lounge. Cosy up on one of the comfortable sofas and watch the family's favourite movie on the Smart TV. Off the lounge you will find a handy ground floor WC and, as you head back through the entrance hall, you will come to the kitchen/diner. This is a fantastic open space, perfect for socialising, relaxing around the dining table or indulging in a board game on a rainy day. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could need to whip up a formal meal or lazy brunch. Walk through the utility room, part of the original barn, and into the snug area which used to be the housing quarters for the Irish farmhands that worked here. Light the cosy wood burner on a chilly winter s evening and enjoy a glass of your favourite tipple in front of the fire. The room also benefits from a wonderful stable door which opens out onto the front garden. When it is time to retire for the evening, head upstairs to one of the two king size bedrooms. Both equally as bright and spacious, the first boasts an en suite shower room and the second an en suite bathroom and stable door, which you can open to enjoy the spectacular views. If your wanting to bring an extra child with you the owners can accommodate a Z bed. The owners have thought of everything to make the vast amount of outdoor space as special as possible. With a large lawned garden and views over the surrounding farmland, sit around the fire pit and enjoy dining alfresco with the charcoal BBQ. Make use of the bespoke private bar area where you can chill your drinks in the fridge and delight in a delicious coffee made with the coffee machine. The owners have included a fenced area for guests to sit and watch their four legged family members have a run around; two dogs are allowed at this property. There is also a hot tub where you can soak amongst the bubbles in the evening and gaze up at the starry skies above
