But should the sun make an appearance, pull on your hiking shoes and follow one of the nearby footpaths to the Mellor Millennium Viewpoint for far-reaching views across the landscape.

Ramble through the Forest of Bowland Area of Natural Beauty, a thirty-minute drive away, or head into the market town of Clitheroe for a peep around the Castle and Museum followed by a well-deserved cup of Earl Grey in a quaint tearoom.
