The K Club: Kildare

The Internationally acclaimed Five Star The K Club is nestled on 550 acres of rolling countryside with its own private stretch of the River Liffey, just 30 minutes outside the bustling city of Dublin.

Built in 1832, the original house was modeled on a French Chateau and still retains many of its original architectural features, art work and antiques.

The hotel is home to two of Europe's finest championship golf courses, designed by Arnold Palmer: The Palmer Ryder Cup Course and The Smurfit Course.

Other key features include a luxury Spa with minimalist and contemporary decor, a well equipped fitness club and a rich choice of dining options.

The K Club is the ideal country venue for business and leisure travellers, families, weddings and honeymooners, incentive groups, executive retreats and of course, golfers.

"Perfect in every way"
This is what a five-star resort should be. It's a gorgeous and enormous old estate that has been updated for comfort (US plugs in the rooms for example) but retaining all the beauty and charm of its original architecture and furnishings. For golfers like us, there are two fantastic courses, one of which hosted the Ryder Cup not long ago. Both courses were beautiful and in absolutely perfect condition. Our caddie was a recent club champion and was extremely knowledgeable and great fun to be with. The hotel is run to perfection - the rooms, bars, restaurants, and spa are all beautiful, and the staff is welcoming, friendly, helpful and all have that unique Irish twinkle. There are many other activities at the K (for Kildare) Club including falconry, archery, shooting, etc but we were too busy playing golf to sample any of these. We extended our stay from 3 to 5 nights because we couldn't bear to leave.

"Mother’s Day"
Beautiful reception area and great staff on check in friendly and helpful and informative. Long walk to room. Beautiful room and aspect looking out on the golf course and river liffey.

Great toiletries and plentiful - aromatherapy associates love them. Nice biscuits with tea tea tray and bottled water. Would expect this tho with a five star rating.

Great garden to walk and explore. Beautiful sitting rooms with welcoming fires burning. We ate in the dining room as part of a package. Expensive if not in the package but really nice and rich food so smallish portions. Tasty and enough.

One glitch was we found someone else’s laundry in a drawer in our room which was a bit distasteful but the manager gave us a lovely complimentary drink as a token which we appreciated and enjoyed.

One night was too short !

"Fantastic hotel with incredible surroundings"
I had a 4 day stay here for a business event. The rooms are beautifully appointed and it really is a special place. Rather than a usual airport box hotel with some natural light if you're lucky and a view of a motorway you're surrounded by an incredible golf course. The only problem is focusing on the work when there are such great views out of the window.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was excellent. This is definitely on my list to come back for leisure and get a few rounds in.

"Wonderful stay"
Wife booked this for a 5 night break. Not disappointed- especially the staff - could not do enough for us even over the New Year period. Rooms are first rate and very comfortable. Bathrooms are excellent to. Spa is a must do and was very quiet. Breakfast was plentiful and great choices. Yes there are charges for extras but really more than enough to last me all day! Will be back again as we were so relaxed after a wonderful break.
