"Ivyleigh House Has it All"
Ivyleigh House is located a short walk from downtown Portlaoise. It’s convenient for both the bus and train, with parking in the rear for guests. The house is a beautifully decorated heritage home kept in immaculate condition by owners, Dinah and Jerry. The rooms are clean and comfortable with high ceilings and lovely views over the garden. The internet signal is strong and the bathrooms are modern. Dinah and Jerry have put heart and soul into making this a wonderful place to stay. They are helpful and well informed about local services and attractions - never too busy to answer a question or respond to a request. And the breakfast is the best I've ever seen. The buffet is loaded with fresh fruit, including poached plums, melon balls, prunes in syrup, cooked rhubarb with seasonal strawberries, a good selection of cereals and fresh creamy yogurt. If you've still got room after that, they will cook you a hot breakfast from the menu, including of course, the “full Irish.” Wash that down with orange juice and a pot of fresh tea or coffee and you're set for the day. This is wonderful place to stay. Dinah and Jerry are the perfect hosts, warm and friendly, and always ready to help.

"Wonderful"
I stayed for a couple of nights at this beautiful and central bed and breakfast as a solo traveller.
Very welcoming and helpful.
Amazing...home cooked breakfast...and I mean everything was home cooked...from the fresh fruit compotes...the granola...the fantastic vegi breakfast ( the best I have ever tasted)...the bread ( which was out of this world delicious! )
The house is beautifully and sympathetically decorated in keeping with the building. The dining room in particular was elegant and of the period... I have never eaten breakfast by candlelight before...I intend to do this myself at home now...just such a beautiful way to start the day.
Nothing was too much trouble...the lovely couple who run this are a credit to independent businesses. Thank you

"First class in every way"
I stayed at Ivyleigh house for 3 days during Electric Picnic. They promise an excellent service with personal touches. The hosts certainly lived up to this. I felt I was in a palace and the welcome we received was so genuine. The rooms were first class, breakfast amazing with homemade and organic being the preference of food of the highest standard. I would absolutely recommend the guesthouse. It's a gem!!

"Great B & B in Portlaoise"
The rooms at Ivyleigh House are 4/5 star hotel quality rooms but it’s the atmosphere that is so warm and very personal. Just the reason why you pick a B & B over a more commercial alternative. The breakfast menu is varied and really tasty home cooked meals. Dinah only uses the best and freshest ingredients and they come out piping out with great coffee. Gerry is a great and very affable host with loads of knowledge about the local area. Portlaoise is a very nice town and so well located to visit great places like Cork, Kilkenny, Galway, Limerick, Ballina and Killaloe. We met some really interesting people staying here which again is a reason why you pick a B & B. We highly recommend Ivyleigh House for a stay of any length.

"Home away from home"
I have stayed in a number of hotels and guest houses across the globe and I just stayed at Ivyleigh House last night for one night, and it has to be my favourite place to stay. The house itself is a stunning well kept beautiful old house close to Main St in Portlaoise. Dinah and Jerry were such genuine homely hosts that welcomed wholeheartedly. Our room was beautiful, immaculate, quite and the bed very uncomfortable. Even though all that was exceptional, the breakfast has to be the overall winner. Fresh fuit produces from their own garden, eggs from local area and fresh breads made that morning and a communal table if desired for those of us who like a chat to other travellers. I will definitely recommend this accommodation for anyone i know wanting to stay in Portlaoise.
