"Well worth the wait"
Have wanted to visit for some time however it is popular and a bit too far from North Cork to come for dinner. We booked one night with a balcony suite and double balcony room as that was the only way to have the two of us and our two teenage sons in adjoining (connected) rooms.
The suite was large, comfortable and luxurious. Just wish hotels that have lovely baths of this calibre would leave bubble bath or similar as a treat.
Two afternoon spa massage treatments were great. Though were disappointed that they said we couldn’t have a couples treatment when we booked and the room brochure advertised that couples treatments could be arranged.
We had dinner at the Bar Restaurant which we booked in advance as we knew our boys would not be crazy for the Easter Chocolate tasting menu in the main restaurant. Main courses of Monkfish, Cod and Sirloin were all perfect.
Breakfast was delicious with freshly squeezed juices, hot coffee, yoghurt & fruit, hot selections such as waffles, full Irish as well as a tiered tray of baked goodies.
We went for a cliff walk for a few kilometers and finished with a swim in their very special pool with a sea view. The staff were very attentive the entire visit and we will visit again.
Two small things went wrong:
I had let the reservation team know that it was our 21st wedding anniversary and they offered to arrange something small - which didn’t happen.
And on checking out, after paying I realized that the room charge was higher by over €200 than when booked. An easy credit but shouldn’t have happened.
