"Returning after 25 Years -- still incredibly wonderful!!!"
We first visited Longueville House 25 years ago with out two teenage daughters. What took us so long to get back!! It is still the same true Irish experience. The history of the land and hotel is amazing and worth reading in the lovely book on the upper-level reading area. The bedrooms are large and grand -- and comfy. The public rooms are elegant beyond description, with the patina of generations of family and guests. Just sitting in the parlor and having a glass of wine and soaking in the atmosphere is an unforgettable experience! Dinner was fantastic -- the next generation of O'Callaghans, William, has stepped up to become the chef and host. We took a long 2-hour walk around the apple orchards and the flower and vegetable gardens, down to the river where we fished for salmon 25 years ago. We were fortunate enough to catch up with Jane O'Callaghan, our hostess those many years ago, who lives in a small lodge nearby and visits the hotel frequently. She gave us many ideas for sightseeing and things to do and see in Dublin, our next stop, and visiting with her again made us truly feel like family. There was a baby shower and also a wedding the day we were there -- Longueville is bursting with activity! For sure we will make it a point to take the beautiful drive up to Mallow whenever we get anywhere near this part of Ireland!
