"Wonderful wedding anniversary celebration"
After wonderful stays in other Red Carnation Hotels, Ashford Castle had long been on our list for a visit so we chose to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary there together with my parents and our two sons. As ever the whole experience from planning through to the stay itself was excellent. The castle itself and the grounds were magnificent and we were all delighted with our beautifully appointed rooms. Unexpected touches such as the arrival of champagne to our room and the romantic turndown on the first evening were wonderful. We enjoyed dinner in the Dungeon and lunch at Cullens at the Cottage and for our final celebratory meal we had an excellent fine dining experience in the George V restaurant, culminating in the arrival of a delicious surprise cake to mark our special occasion.

Our two night stay was just long enough to wander round the extensive and well-tended grounds, to meet the two friendly Irish Wolfhounds who visited reception each morning, and to sample some of the many activities on offer, including a fun archery session and a hands-on visit to the Irish School of Falconry. My wife and youngest son also took advantage of the relaxation pool in the lovely spa. In the evenings we relaxed with a cocktail while listening to some great traditional music.

Beyond the excellent facilities and activities, it’s the high quality Red Carnation service, married here with genuine Irish charm, which shines through at every turn and from every member of the team. Worried about running late for lunch during our falconry session, we were told by the team at the falconry school not to rush and were then met by mini bus (with ice creams!) to take us across the estate to a friendly welcome at Cullens. Magic touches like this are what make the Ashford Castle experience so very special. We were sad to leave, but as the saying goes, “you have to leave to come back”…

"30th Wedding Anniversary"
Words cannot describe. Without doubt THE best hotel I have ever stayed at....and there have been quite a few over the years for both business and pleasure.
This was a special treat for our 30th wedding anniversary forming part of a tour of the west coast of Ireland.
Service was 100% faultless, restaurants (George V and Cullens) were perfect.
The staff went that extra mile knowing it was our anniversary.
We also did the Hawk Walk and that was just a fantastic experience.
We spent much of our time walking in the beautiful grounds and were blessed with fantastic sunny weather.
It is expensive, but for a special occasion it cannot be beaten. Be prepared for lots of American voices!

We WILL be back as have so much more of Ireland to explore in addition to family living in Ireland.

Just book it!

Perfect Place to Spend 10th Anniversary - George V Dining + Falconry both A++
My husband and I stayed here two nights, one of which was our 10th wedding anniversary, and it couldn't have been a better experience. Other reviewers have said that they make you feel like royalty here, and it is really true! Within the first 30 minutes of arriving we had been given a tour of the castle & our room, had our luggage delivered with an offer to hang up our clothes for us, had the concierge ring us to ensure everything was "to our satisfaction", and had surprise complimentary champagne delivered since we were celebrating our anniversary. The turn down service also left us a card and special pillow for our anniversary. Our room, the castle, and the grounds were all beautiful, the staff were all extremely polite and helpful, and the food was very good. We enjoyed afternoon tea and their ample breakfast buffet, but what stood out was our anniversary dinner at George V dining room; the food was delicious and the whole dinner was like a presentation with them "revealing" each dish to us; they even gave us a "Happy Anniversary" cake. Lastly, we did a Hawk Walk with the Ireland School of Falconry; Yoda and Wookie were our falcons and Connal was our guide, and it was an amazing and unique experience; I definitely recommend giving it a try.

I really hope we can go back for a longer stay sometime in the future, because 2 nights was not enough!

"Amazing Anniversary get away"
True 5 star experience, from the Gate House welcome to the reluctant departure. We did a 2 night dinner package for our wedding Anniversary. Everything was impeccable. Dinner at the George V dining room was excellent and lovely to dress up for the night. Food was outstanding and even though full, had to have a truffle from the chocolate trolley! A special touch too was a “happy Anniversary” song and cake! Spa facilities and staff were just fabulous, very friendly and made our experience super! Did the couples massage and couples Hammam session, with relaxation suite time and sauna sessions. The bedroom was heavenly and so comfortable. Bathroom spacious and we loved the bath each evening with the candles.
Truly a memorable 2 night stay and thanks to everyone who helped us experience such bliss.

"There are not enough stars....LOVE this hotel"
Celebrating a wedding anniversary, mid week stay for 2 nights on “taste of Ireland” package.

Firstly the hotel- amazing castle. Attention to detail is meticulous. Rooms are beautiful. Have stayed in various rooms
and suites here over the years, I’ll always recommend upgrading(!) but the standard rooms are lovely.

Ashford for me is all about relaxing. The grounds have lovely walks & Cong (for those Quiet Man movie fans!) is a short walk away. Played the 9 hole golf course, green fees complimentary and was very enjoyable, despite the winter conditions. One morning we did a one hour forest walk with 2 Irish wolf hounds linked to the castle. It was superb- their owner was sharing lots of information and the dogs themselves are magnificent. Would highly recommend. Tennis courts, falconry, horse riding and Lough Corrib boat trip also available, but we didn’t do these.

There is also a spa in the hotel. We didn’t get any treatments, but used the relaxation areas/pool/steam room. All very nice, in particular the pool area.

Various options for food in the castle and grounds. We are in the Dungeon restaurant on the 1st evening, which was ok. The star dining experience was dinner in the George V restaurant - really excellent food, superb menu, great wine list, all in a beautiful dining room. Breakfast was amazing, tons of options. You could spend the day eating breakfast! Lunch also good. We did afternoon tea which was lovely, lots of food so be warned!

The thing that has brought us back to Ashford is the staff. Right from greeting at the front gate through to checkout, Ashford has an incredible team of people. Nothing is too much trouble. I cannot commend them highly enough, the Ashford team is an example of what customer service should be. The team at Ashford set themselves apart from other luxury hotels in Ireland. As I mentioned earlier, we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and we were treated to multiple celebratory touches throughout our stay.

Some may question the price to stay at Ashford. Is it expensive? Yes. Is it worth it- absolutely, 100%. It is value for money- yes, without a doubt. It is 5 star from start to finish. Highly, highly recommend a visit.
