Bourton-on-the-Water is renowned as the Venice of the Cotswolds because of its charming high street that runs across the River Windrush and several low stone bridges that cross it. An annual football game is said to be played in the River Windrush throughout the summer, with its banks packed with fans, with the purpose of scoring as many goals as possible while also getting as soaked as possible!
