Property Overview
Enjoy spectacular water views from every room of this stylish cottage on the Wild Atlantic Way. Set in its own private grounds, The Bay House is just a short stroll from the delightful Clonakilty town with its many bars, cafes, restaurants and boutiques and the stunning award-winning Blue Flag Inchydoney Beach, featuring its own surf school.
This beautifully restored 19th century cottage, surrounded by fields of horses, is the perfect spot to relax and explore the magic of West Cork.
The house boasts five spacious bedrooms (three ensuite).
The main kingsize bedroom enjoys a private balcony overlooking Clonakilty Bay and ensuite with shower and bath.
There are three double bedrooms (two ensuite). One is triple aspect and one is on the ground floor, with ensuite, which is perfect for those who'd rather not take the stairs.
The fifth bedroom has children-only bunk beds – but even they get a sea view!
There are two reception rooms, one with double-sided log burner and the other with floor to ceiling windows to take in the view. The bay is a haven for wildfowl, so enjoy birdwatching from the comfort of your own sofa.
Warm underfloor heating throughout downstairs, radiators upstairs, and that atmospheric double-sided log burner to keep things cosy when the weather turns chilly.
There is a double height gallery dining area, a spacious well-equipped kitchen with breakfast bar, utility and downstairs cloakroom. Washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, American-style fridge-freezer, double oven and coffee machine.
Outside is a generous patio area with large table and chairs for dining alfresco and an expansive lawn with swing and hammock. (NB: We recommend young children are supervised in the grounds).
Clonakilty town, one of Ireland's top tourist spots, is just a mile away with its colourful shop fronts, world-famous bars, live music, cafes, restaurants and boutiques.
Inchydoney Beach (voted Ireland's Best Beach 2022 by PlanetWare and Ireland's Best Beach 2020 by TripAdvisor users for the sixth year running) is a five minute drive with free parking, or a twenty minute walk from the house. It has its own surf school where the whole family can take lessons. A stunning place to take in the fresh air and explore at any time of year.
Equestrian Centre, several golf courses, water sports centres, fishing and a cinema nearby too.
Clonakilty has its own Rent A Bike scheme and the children will love the Model Railway with its Choo Choo land train to take them around the town and to the beach. You won't run out of things to do in any weather!
We have free Wi-Fi for our guests. Private off-road parking.
The Bay House is strictly non-smoking.
Regrettably, we cannot allow dogs or any other pets.

Gorgeous place. We loved it here. Had a great family holiday with children and grandparents. Perfect house and location.

Wonderful house and views. Stayed as an anniversary treat for myself and my wife. The house is beautiful. It's spacious, but still felt cosy enough for just the two of us. Easy walk into town to dine out. Beach close by. Just what we were looking for.

Such an amazing house. It's spotlessly clean and the views are incredible. We had the perfect week here. Children went surfing at the beach and took their first ever pony riding lessons next door. It's so peaceful and lovely. Couldn't fault it.

"Getaway in West Cork!" can't recommend highly enough. The house itself has been beautifully restored and offers all mod cons. Lovely surrounding grounds too. We plan to book again next year!

Love this place. Spotlessly clean and it has everything you need for a staycation. It’s a lovely 25 minute walk to Inchydoney beach where you can take surfing lessons and a 15 minute walk into clonakilty for some shopping and eating. Even in poor weather we went surfing and then came back and had drinks by the fire. Or we went sight seeing or had afternoon tea at the Dunmore hotel. Fish and chips at the Chunky chip is a must as is a Chinese take away from the Sea Palace. We will be back!
