Set in a magical 200 acre wooded estate in County Limerick, the Castle dates back to the 15th Century and is now available as a five star self-catering accommodation for all those dreaming of an unforgettable Irish holiday reliving the glories of bygone days.
There are fields of quietly grazing deer and acres of woodland walks tempting you to explore. The organic farm, with its woods and gardens are all yours to roam and in season you can enjoy a visit to the Victorian era walled garden with flowers, herbs and salads organically produced for local markets.
As you enter the impressive gateway to the Castle a plaque on the wall commemorates Daithi O'Bruadair, a classical irish poet of the seventeenth century who lived at the castle with his patrons, the Fitzgerald family, recording their lives (and general events).
The Castle actually comprises of two separate buildings: the Castle itself and the newly renovated East Tower wing. The two buildings feature their own entrances, courtyards, hallways, dining rooms, kitchens and drawing rooms and are furnished with elegant antiques but are also fully equipped for modern life in the 21st Century and they can be rented separately.
The Castle sleeps up to 15 in 8 bedrooms and has 6 bathrooms.
The beautiful drawing room off the main entrance is filled with family antiques and works of art which make it a special place to sit and chat, and perhaps put another log on the open fire when it suits.
The elegant large dining room with its rich red walls, and fine silver candelabra lighting up the large 14 seater mahogany dining table, is a pleasure to dine in at night. The study is a cosy sitting room with leather sofas and open fireplace. It has free wireless internet access and a T.V. and DVD player.
The large family kitchen is a comfortable family room where you can relax while enjoying meal preparation. Ideal for informal meals, all modern conveniences are provided including coffee maker, electric stove, microwave, toaster, fridge etc.
There is a separate scullery with dishwasher, washing machine and dryer and a large pantry with an American style fridge/freezer with ice maker
On the premises are leisure facilities including a sauna for relaxation, full sized snooker/billiard table, table tennis, and a hard court tennis court. There is a children's playground in the central courtyard.
The East Tower sleeps 10 with 3 double rooms in the tower all with bathrooms en suite, and the clock suite with a double and an adjoining twin single bedded room with bath and shower room en suite.
The gorgeously furnished dining room has a table that can seat up to 25, and for functions a second table can be added.
The Kitchen is large, stylish, and modern, but with a flagstone floor and a table that seats 12. It has an American style fridge freezer with ice maker, a cooking range with gas hob and electric ovens, and two dishwashers.
The kitchen door leads out onto a large patio facing west with barbeque and herb garden to enjoy on sunny days.
Upstairs the huge living room is elegantly and comfortably furnished. It has WIFI access, a large TV, DVD player and a stereo system.
The bedrooms are accessed by a beautiful wide spiral staircase which stretches from the first floor up to the 4th floor roof area.
If you are thinking about the Castle for a fairy tale wedding, the venue is approved by the HSE for civil weddings and partnerships as well as wedding blessing ceremonies and its hosts are looking forward to making sure you and your guests have an unforgettable day.
Betty, Jonathan, Daniel, and Ally gave us exceptional hospitality and lots of great recommendations to go see locally. The Castle is quite a spectacle! Not everyone can say that they've stayed in a castle. Now we can!

Truly an enchanting castle with amazing hospitality. The kitchen and bathrooms were all modern while the living room/lounge rooms were left with artifacts and paintings creating a charming feeling. The hot tub, soccer field, and sauna were a plus. So much to explore in and around the castle.

A fantastic venue, really well appointed and welcoming. For an old house it was a pleasant surprise to have a really good supply of hot water and the beds were comfortable.

"Absolutely Brilliant !!! Simply the Best !!" Oh where to begin....if you ever decide to take your family to Ireland, maybe in celebration of your 70th birthday....well book Springfield Castle for a week and let the Sykes family do the rest ! The manor house is just as I imagined only better with great antique funky furnishings...lovely bedrooms....a wonderful kitchen and dining room...and a living room with the fireplace always burning...all the wood provided. We chose to have a few meals prepared for us as well as two breakfasts and they were amazing...a real treat not having to cook everyday. On Thanksgiving night...my birthday celebration dinner....Jonathan , Betty and Karen hosted us for cocktails in their newly renovated Tower to the Castle which will be used in the future for social gatherings ...awesome !!...thank you... And after dinner we were treated to a 3 piece musical group in the living room which was arranged by our hosts and it gave me a chance to share some of the rich Irish music that I love with my family...thanks again ! We did take some day side trips and the small bus company that the folks recommended could not have been better....it gave us a chance to really enjoy the nearby Dingle penisula. Many in our party enjoyed walking the extensive grounds with all the historical significance attached to the property. I have had the good fortune to travel to Ireland ...10 times in my life... and I have stayed in many different hotels castles and B&B's....nothing has ever compared to my stay with the Sykes family in their wonderful countryside retreat. My one hope is to go back and experience it all over again!! Thank you so very much...Jonathan, Betty, Karen and Dan...your hospitality and graciousness to me and my family was simply the best as well as your grand Castle !! All the best, Jim and family

"Lovely. Grand. Brilliant" Hard to overstate the amount of fun you can have with 22 best friends and family members, an amazing setting (the castle), 2 kegs of Guinness in the pub and perfect Irish summer weather. Every single aspect of our trip worked 100% and Springfield Castle was just a magic place for us. The old part of the building is appropriately musty and grand, the Tower is newly updated and modern, their cuisine (breakfast, lunch and dinners) was incredible, the 2 game rooms kept the younger crowd entertained (pool, pingpong, foosball), the grounds were lush and quiet and picturesque. 2 deer herds onsite - we had their local venison for dinner and even the vegetarians raved. Dan (chef), Karen, Jonathan and Betty were wonderful hosts. And where else can you get a personal guided tour by the Lord of the manor, himself in bathing suit and flipflops? Have Dan cook his 3-day marinated lamb on the asado grill and be sure to order his seafood pie. The 2 best meals of the week. I could go on forever. It's a special place our group will always remember.

"My Irish retreat of perfection" This is my 3rd time booking a week long retreat at Springfield Castle. It is the perfect balance of elegance and homey comfort. All of my clients on this most recent retreat exclaimed their full delight of the surroundings, the amenities, the gracious thoughtful touches of flowers in the rooms, our wonderful grounds tour with Jonathan and Betty's knowledge of the flora. Some of my participants enjoyed roaming the woods, saying hello to the resident domesticated deer while others were inspired to write from the comfort of their rooms or common spaces. They exclaimed how rejuvenated and inspired they felt after their week at Springfield castle. They ALL had high praise. Springfield castle will always be my chosen setting for my Ireland retreats. Thank you again Sykes family!!!

"Sublime" We visited Springfield Castle to dine at The Green Room cafe and visit the grounds. It is sublime. Jonathan and his family poor their heart and souls into everything they do here and have really given the property and grounds a touch of class. The food is delicious. If we lived a little closer we would visit every week for lunch.
