We love the rustic feel – between the whitewashed ceiling beams, exposed brick and raw plastered walls, the building's 19th-century heritage shines through the more modern touches. Antique furniture sits alongside gold and matte black finishes, resulting in a tasteful medley of old and new.

When you're not lounging on the sofa or cooking nourishing meals in the seafoam kitchen, head outside and explore this famous coastal town. The picturesque sandy beach is just a five-minute walk away, so make sure you back your bucket and spade. After a day of sunbathing, pick up a bag of fish and chips or take a seat at one of the many seafood restaurants. If you're travelling with kids, we should warn you – once they catch sight of Margate's Dreamland amusement park they won't want to leave without a visit.
