Ross Castle: Galway

We guarantee you the best rate on this property when you book directly at  Five Star

Ross Castle. Demesne provides refined elegance for exceptional occasions or a memorable Galway vacation. The distinctive ambience of the Castle's grand rooms and self-catering cottages, accented with bespoke antique furnishings, will captivate you and up to 40 guests. The historic 120-acre lakefront estate is entirely immersed in a spectacular setting of mountains, lakes, and parklands.

Developed in 1539 by The "Ferocious" O'Flaherty, one of the most distinguished tribes of Galway, the property was later acquired by the Martin Family, who built the present manor house upon the former castle's foundation.

Guests are invited to enjoy all of the amenities: indoor heated swimming pool, Billiards room, tennis court, lake with boat/canoe/fishing gear, gardens, and trailed public forest at the estate's periphery. Ross is just a 20-minute drive from Galway City (Cathedral) and less than an hours drive of The Aran Islands, Cliffs of Mohar, salmon/trout fishing, golf courses and horseback riding.

"Will look well on your holiday snaps!"
We didn't get to see inside Ross castle but we had a fabulous walk in the woods surrounding Ross castle. It's all very scenic but it could do with better signposting for the intrepid walkers

"A lovely tour"
It is a wonderful place. Really peaceful with an astounding scenery. We managed to get a great tour guide in the castle, Claudia who gave us a really warm and friendly experience which came along with all her knowledge about the castle’s history. Thumbs up for this guide and the beauty of Killarney
