"Deserves its fantastic reputation" I brought my mother October 29th for one night to celebrate her birthday, and it is hands-down the most incredible hotel I've ever visited. From the second we pulled up to the hotel, it was clear the staff were going to be as lovely as the scenery! We were very warmly welcomed by Tom at the gate who directed us where to park, and once we stepped inside we were shown to reception. Hannah at the front desk was an absolute pleasure, she helped with our bags and offered a hot drink as it was freezing outside. She was very welcoming and warm and even had us upgraded to a stunning junior suite! She then introduced us to Estevan to bring us up to the room. Estevan was an absolute pleasure, he carried all our bags like a gentleman and explained where everything was in the hotel, and gave us a little history about the hotel as we made our way to the room. He explained how everthing worked in the room once we got there and called a little later to make sure we had settled in all right. The room itself (room 426) was the most stunning hotel room I've ever been in. Kept beautifully classic yet updated to the max with floor heaters, a fireplace, remote window blinds and so much more. It was even better than we had expected. Tom(if I remember correctly) from room service dropped up an ice bucket later and was another lovely member of staff to encounter, he was very polite and helpful and a pleasure to deal with. We had a beautiful dinner in the cottage, where the lovely staff yet again met our every need, even bringing my mom out a birthday dessert. Honestly every aspect of this hotel is five star, with the staff really making it exceptional, thank you all so much for a fantastic stay! Meagan

"Lovely and Unusual" As we arrived I knew I was going to like it due to several warm greetings and smooth check in. We basically had our stay confirmed before we went to our room. Our room was unusual. Colors chintz and frills and then all modern amenities. Computerized everything. Heated floors & towels in the bath. Great size. Unfortunately although we stayed 3 nights we were gone sightseeing all day. Next time we will spend time with Ashford activities. Charles V was great and our service was impeccable. The food was very good but not awesome. The overall price seemed high. We ate 2 nights at the Cottage and it was great, especially the seafood. The interior was extremely nice but couldn't keep up with the location. Several have expressed that they didn't like the breakfast. I thought the buffet was truly lacking but when I started ordering ala carte my breakfast became very enjoyable.

"Superb stay at Hideaway Cottage" We stayed at Ashford Castle in Hideaway Cottage when alternative arrangements fell through. It was a last minute booking made about an hour and a half before we arrived. Despite that, staff were superb, even checking us in at the cottage itself (you can drive right to your front door and park on your private jetty). It is a converted boathouse and is as quiet and private as you can imagine. You have your own private gates giving you your own portion of the beautiful Loch. The hotel is only two minutes' walk away so you have privacy without ever feeling cut off. Hotel facilities are wonderful and full room service is available at Hideaway Cottage - it arrives quickly and hot with the right number of staff to serve. Hideaway Cottage is expensive but by the time we left we considered it worth every penny. I don't ever post reviews but felt compelled to do so because the cottage, the hotel, grounds, food, service, staff and facilities were faultless. We have stayed all over the world in five star hotels, both for vacation and business - Hideaway Cottage at Ashford Castle is a match for anywhere we have ever stayed. If you want a special stay & to go to sleep listening to the Loch lapping against the shore, pay up and enjoy Hideaway Cottage. Otherwise the rooms at the hotel look great too.
