Stunning contemporary luxury holiday cottage set 8 km from Roundstone in a secluded location surrounded by sandy Dolan's beach and memorable views of the Ocean and the Arann Islands. Formerly owned by a bachelor farmer named Mr Folan, who moved out during the 70s, the two original ruined cottages were recently rebuilt and stacked together through a glass enclosure by well-known architects Peter Legge Associates, who turned them into a stunning example of modern architecture.
The cottage has been cleverly designed to ensure that it blends in effortlessly with its rustic and tranquil surroundings, while a surprising classic Nordic style awaits you inside. The comfortable dining area's main decoration feature is a giant glass section in the stone wall, perfectly framing the picturesque green outdoors. The large kitchen boasts modern appliances and a dining table for 8 people.
Once again, stunning French windows fold back fully and open out onto a south facing terrace with unmatched views of the ocean. The classic modern living room features a turf open fire with stove, comfortable sitting and a flat screen TV. The ground floor also features a large en-suite double bedroom, with bathroom and shower. Upstairs are the two remaining bedroom, one double en-suite with fitted wardrobes and one triple with a double bed and a single bed, fitted wardrobes, en suite shower room with Amazon shower. Extra storage and a quite reading/working area in the landing. Under floor heating throughout.

Simon's house is an amazing place to spend time at with family and friends. It was my 2nd visit, and this time I enjoyed it with five friends who had not been to Ireland before. Experiencing the house and its incredible setting in person surpassed their expectations. It was a bit of a rainy week, but it cleared up at some point each day that we were always able to spend time outside walking the local environs. Returning to the house to enjoy the warmth of the peat fire, conversation and then a walk on the beach after dinner was perfect. We took advantage of Simon's recommendations for nearby outings. An additional plus was that we got to meet Nora! We loved everything about our stay and look forward to returning.

I had such a gorgeous time with friends in this cottage. It was all that I hoped it would be, super comfortable, beautifully designed, stunning location, surrounded by nature and cosy evenings by the fire. I was already thinking about returning half way through the trip. If you need somewhere to nourish your soul, this is the place to go.

We had a fantastic experience and Simon is a great host. The house is gorgeous, so well laid out and very unique with some of the best views of the Wild Atlantic we’ve ever seen. We enjoyed visiting the beach (a stones throw away) & loads of lovely local walks. We highly recommend and look forward to returning.

Very cool house in a spectacular setting, the perfect place to get away from it all. All the great reviews already here are well justified!

One of the few places I can truly say reality exceeded our high expectations - if you want comfort in a remote, idyllic, "wild Atlantic way" home this place is hard to beat.
