As a small family run Guesthouse, we aim to make each guest feel very much at home. On arrival we invite guests to relax by the fire in our cosy drawing room whilst enjoying a pot of artisan leaf tea or freshly brewed coffee with homemade biscuits.
We have a passion for local, seasonal produce which John showcases in our daily dinner menu. We have a small orchard which provides fruits for desserts, chutneys and preserves, and is home to our friendly chickens that lay wonderful eggs for breakfast.
Homegrown soft fruit and vegetables also feature in our dinner menu. Our "Ulster Fry" is legendary and we won the "Best Breakfast in Ireland" recently at the Irish Breakfast awards.
Set on the edge of a small village, and set in countryside, Newforge House boasts wonderful mature gardens which provide an oasis of calm. Newforge house is the perfect location for a romantic break.
The house and gardens are available for exclusive hire, making it a wonderful venue for an intimate family gathering, or a magical small wedding tailored to suit your individual requirements.
Our central location also makes Newforge a perfect touring base for touring Northern Ireland, with Lough Neagh around the corner and Belfast just 30 minutes drive.
"Perfection" Have wanted to go for a night and finally talked my husband into treating me for my birthday. Bliss - the staff are all wonderful, friendly, approachable and you really feel that they really do want to ensure you have fantastic stay. Our room was truly delightful, very pretty and extremely comfortable. Loved sitting in the drawing room in front of the fire with tea, mince pie and chatting to other guests. Back to the drawing room and the fire for pre dinner drinks and then dinner. Between us we tried all the options - all delicious and then coffee in front of the fire. Yes, I like open fires! After a very good sleep we had an excellent breakfast. Hints are being dropped for next years birthday already!!

"OUTSTANDING!" We have not been here for over three years but in the time that has passed nothing has changed. The instantaneous feeling you get crossing the threshold is ‘home’. This is a fabulous country house hotel that feels like home. The wood burning fire aromas percolate downstairs. The fire gently welcoming in the drawing room; maybe a small whiskey before an outstanding dinner then off to bed. Linens are top notch: the bedrooms have shutters, and the temperature is just perfect. Nothing is too much trouble for John and the team. We have a toddler now and a high chair was produced without fuss and meals heated all with good humour and grace. Breakfast is simply wonderful. This is THE gold standard against which I measure all house hotels. Brilliant: see you all again hopefully soon. Thanks. Steve, Juliet & Rosie

We received a Gift of this Break away without the Kids.
John and the Staff are very welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble.
We stayed in the Hanna Room which has a four-poster Bed. Very comfortable. Large en-suite Bathroom with separate shower and bath.
Food was the highlight here. We had 2 Dinners and 2 Breakfasts and everything was lovely. John the owner is also the Chef and makes a huge effort to showcase local and Irish produce.
Excellent Wine List. We tried a very good Lebanese Red. Also good selection of Whiskeys and Brandys.
There are 6 Bedrooms in the House. Also one Table per night is reserved for Guests who are there for Dinner only.
There is a Drawing Room with a lovely open fire and Dining Room downstairs.
The only issue for us and it is a small one is that there are 6 seats around the fire in the Drawing Room. There are other occasional Tables and Chairs but they are not very comfortable. As the Drawing Room is the only common space to relax, this aspect is a bit limiting.
Overall, we were made to feel very much at home and really enjoyed our stay. Foodies would really appreciate this place. Would recommend and would return.

"Fabulous find" We're just home from a fabulous overnight stay are Newforge House. We had a gorgeous room, a very comfortable four poster bed, lovely ensuite bathroom, all the facilities you would expect. The meal was outstanding, simple food yet the flavours were sublime and locally sourced produce. It was lovely to have our coffee and port in the drawing room with the fire roaring, chatting to the other guests. We had a walk around the gardens this morning where the hens roam freely. It was a very relaxing experience and yet so close to Belfast.

“A little gem that is consistently excellent.”
This is the best guest house I have ever stayed in. My husband and I had our wedding here and we've returned twice. The house is stunning, beautiful rooms throughout. The team are amazing - the warmest welcome, brilliant food, friendly and excellent service. Perfect spot for exploring N Ireland for visitors but also a lovely option for a dine and stay night away. Enjoy the cheeseboard knowing there is a fabulous breakfast ahead in the morning!
