Narrow Water Castle: Down

Luxury apartment in Narrow Water Castle

Narrow Water Castle is the private home of the Hall family who have lived here since 1670, originally in the Old Narrow Water Keep which is now a national monument.

In 1816 construction began on the new Elizabethan Revival style Castle by Thomas Duff, a well-known Newry architect who also designed the Cathedrals in Newry, Armagh and Dundalk.

The Elizabethan Revival Style Castle was built next to the existing home, Mount Hall (1680) and completed in 1836.

This self catering apartment is in the original hub of the castle (Mount Hall).

The apartment opens into an elegant open plan, living room and dining room with open fire. We have used several antique pieces of furniture to hint of times gone by. We are happy to provide logs if our guests wish to use the fire.

There are two spacious, beautifully furnished bedrooms, one of which is en-suite. The bedrooms can be configured as either, 1 kingsize bed and 1 super-king bed or, 1 kingsize bed and 2 single beds.

We use luxurious linens and have a choice of either Hungarian White down pillows or a quality boutique pillow. We have chosen to provide our guests with excellent mattresses to ensure they get a great nights sleep.

The main bathroom features a free standing double slipper bath on Moroccan handcrafted encaustic tiles, setting an air of romance. The en-suite bathroom has a spacious double shower cubicle, with high spec electric shower.

The kitchen is equipped with modern conveniences, crockery, glassware, pots, pans and utensils. There is also an outdoor dining area is set up with stunning views of the castle, Carlingford Lough and the Cooley Mountains.

There is level entry throughout, two steps at front and two at back. A ramp can be provided on request.

If our guests wish to explore the estate, they can stroll through the landscaped gardens or walk to the forest in search of the hidden castle. There is an equestrian centre within the estate and a golf course within walking distance.

"Beautiful self-catering apartment" We have a lovely time in the most beautifully furnished and cosy, comfortable apartment attached to the castle. We had a lovely open fire, a generous welcome pack which included fresh flowers and a warm welcome. It was very centrally located to where we wanted to be and was remote enough to be relaxing. There were lovely walks nearby and Warrenpoint is around 10 minutes drive away for restaurants, take-aways and a supermarket. Highly recommended.

This apartment is totally amazing, lush and very grand. On arrival the host Ramona gives you a very warm welcome and a quick run down on where everything is and how it all works, amenities, internet, games, tourist information etc. But as a guest one is immediately overwhelmed by the grandure and instantly feels regal as if they belong to the aristocracy...especially on the grounds of Narrow Water Castle itself! I held an event in the castle on St Patricks Day, so for me and my guest it was imperative for us to stay on the grounds. The scenery is a patchwork quilt of fields, lawns, forests and mountains from north and south of Ireland looking out onto Carlingford Lough and the Clanrye river leading into Newry Ship canal. We even watched huge cargo ships arrive in Warrenpoint docks. Breathtaking! ! This place is totally amazing and I recommend you visit at least once in your lifetime. Ramona is an amazing person too and has a real flare for decor and comfort. Stay here once and you will definitely be back for more... Thank you Ramona,we love your apartment!! (Unfortunately I did not take any photos of the apartment so you will have to find out for yourself but shhh,we don't want everyone to know about this stunning location)
