Built in 1872, this rustic hideaway in Italy's Itria Valley has serene written all over it – picture exposed stone and moss-coloured shutters on the outside and crisp white walls married with pared-back design on the inside. But there are a few surprises in store, too – and our favourite is the indoor pool. Perfect for swims no matter the weather, you'll feel like you're living in your very own Roman bath – what's more relaxing than that?

Set to the backdrop of Puglia's rolling hills, there's a private wood on-site that's all yours to explore. Elsewhere in the garden, you can take it easy and stretch out on one of the sun loungers with a glass of regional wine to keep you cool. Later on, jump straight into the outdoor pool and float underneath clear blue skies, then gather underneath the veranda for an alfresco dinner prepared on the barbecue or pizza oven.

When you fancy a change of scenery, you're just ten minutes by car from Ostuni, home to gleaming alabaster houses and a maze of alleyways lined with chic boutiques and eateries. For a taste of the Puglian coast, drive twenty-two minutes to Spiaggia di Torre Pozzelle and enjoy a dip in the Adriatic Sea.
