Our holiday home is situated at Gillaroo Bay, Pontoon, Co Mayo on the shores of Lough Conn which is one of a series of lakes situated between the mountains of this spectacular region of the West of Ireland. This part of Mayo, the lakes and the mountains, is a perennial favourite with fishermen who come back year after year for the trout and salmon fishing; and for people who love this remote and magnificent part of the world with its proximity to the Wild Atlantic Way, its beaches and golf courses all within spitting distance of our property.

The nearest village is a few miles away. Lahardaun (The Titanic Village) is a small but picturesque place with a grocery store & post office, 2 lovely local pubs, a church, doctors' surgery, a Titanic Memorial Park and Nephin Whiskey Distillery, both are well worth a visit/tour. We are also situated within a couple of miles of the historic Foxford town with its internationally renowned Moy River and working Woolen Mill. An afternoon visit for a guided tour of the Mill and take in their fabulous shop is a must, with all their products and much more on sale; they boast the best eaterie in the area, fantastic breakfasts, lunches and afternoon teas with a variety of delicious homemade cakes! Castlebar and Ballina are a 15 - 20 minute drive away. Westport is a 35-minute drive from the property.

The main attraction for this area is the landscape. The mountains, the lakes and the nearby fabulous beaches of the Atlantic coast are simply breathtaking. Take a trip to Achill or Clare Island, or stunning Enniscrone beach. Sit out on our front terrace watching the fishermen rowing on the lake or join them and soak up the peace and tranquillity on the water. There are several hiking trails and walks of different levels from the back of the property looping up around the hills, and the imposing black slopes of Nephin are there to climb. There is a lake swimming 2km from the property, ideal for young children.

Indoors the house is superbly comfortable., in excess of 5,000 square feet with lots of areas to relax in.

The bedrooms are all large double/king rooms with good quality beds and most rooms have en suite bathrooms with fab power showers and tons of hot water. All toiletries are provided and our product of choice is Faith in Nature due to their commitment to sustainability and ecological thinking. A full set of towels is provided for every guest. There is a hairdryer in every room. Bedrooms and shower rooms are suitable for disabled guests.

The kitchen is fully equipped with an American fridge freezer, water and ice dispenser, 2 ovens, microwave, induction hob, boiling water tap, wine cooler etc a big kitchen table to gather around and a marble island for extra seating.

Downstairs there is a full utility room with a washing machine, tumble dryer, storage cupboards, iron/board and an extra family-sized fridge for overflow.

There are several different living areas and chill-out zones, 3 widescreen TVs with Sky, Netflix etc. There are 2 living rooms on the ground floor and 1 on the first floor, all with tranquil lake or mountain views. There is a study/office area on the first floor suitable for the working guest.

Underfloor heating keeps the place super cosy and there are two wood/turf stoves to enjoy with lots of firewood provided.

There is plenty of activity for families, you will be entertained day through the night with our fantastic facilities. Adults and kids alike will enjoy the enclosed all-weather astroturf pitch, the secluded outdoor hot tub with far-reaching mountain views, an outdoor barrel sauna, a gym with treadmill, cross trainer, rowing machine, yoga mats, weights etc. There is an outdoor enclosed bbq pergola that allows outdoor cooking whatever the weather and a covered seating area. There is boat hire available at the edge of the garden.

Indoors at the basement level of the house, there is a large games room with a full-size pool table, plenty of board games, books etc. A cinema room with a huge cosy sofa, pouffes and an extra-large tv screen for movies late into the night.

The house is well equipped for babies/toddlers with 3 high chairs and 3 travel cots. stair gates etc.
