Salterbridge Gatelodge: Waterford

Situated on the Salterbridge estate at the foot of the majestic Knockmealdown Mountains, this enchanting lodge is within a mile of the charming village of Cappoquin and only ten miles from the sea at Youghal and Dungarvan.

The lodge accommodates two guests comfortably and has many interesting features. There is an octagonal garden room from which the two main rooms, bedroom and sitting room, lead; and the kitchen and bathroom are to the rear.

The garden surrounding Salterbridge House is filled with camellias, magnolias, rhododendrons and many other woodland shrubs.

There are many fine trees at Salterbridge House & Gardens including most notably four splendid Irish yews, a cork oak, an Indian horse chestnut and a single leaved ash.

A contribution towards light and heat will be applied to all bookings.

"Exceptional"
A beautiful house in a stunning setting within comfortable walking distance of Cappoquin. And a very warm and sincere welcome from Maro who had the fire lighting when we arrived. Couldn't recommend a stay here enough.

"Period home away from home"
The place is absolutely beautiful. And very well restored. It has everything you need to be comfortable. The surrounding countryside is lovely. We were lucky with the weather in September.

"Stunning little cottage" Absolutely charming country cottage for a short break for two. Beautifully finished and curated. Maro couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. The area is underrated from a tourism perspective - there is a lot to see nearby, from wild mountains, lovely estate gardens and quaint pubs, to all the seaside exploits which are nearby. We will definitely come back. It helped that the weather was incredible - but I'd be wiling to come back in winter also!

Beautifully renovated gate house! Loved the historic aspect, the fireplace provided a nice cozy feel. Wish we could have seen/learned more about the history of the main house and estate. Lismore castle is a must! Wonderful walking trails nearby are so nice.

Fantastic little gem to stay in for a special occassion. The house is very quirky and is in perfect condition. Everything works properly across the whole house which is a bonus in self catering houses. Spotlessly clean. Maro the house manager was very welcoming and accomodating from first contact to wishing us a safe onward journey. The area is very pleasant to stay visitng Lismore Castle, the towers and some nice short walks. A very friendly area. Bar food in Foley's in Lismore is a good standard. Richmond House for a meal was disappointing as it is actually quite dated and tired when seen in person. The food is not anything special for the price.
