Outstanding Lakeside Victorian Manor House In Walled Estate
This historic house is one of the jewels in the crown of Killarney accommodation. Its location alone is unrivalled, sitting on a slight rise overlooking the lakes and mountains, in a peaceful countryside setting but still within walking distance to Killarney town and across the street from the entrance to the national park. The house itself, like the setting is totally unique, it has kept its old world charm but with modern conveniences discreetly included. This period house has an interesting history mirroring the history of Ireland from the landlord era to present day.
The rooms are all large with the drawing room and dining room featuring some wonderful antique furniture and large bay windows with lake views. The bedrooms have their own private bathroom. The kitchen is modernly equipped with the addition of an AGA stove which will be the one piece of equipment you will long to take home with you. The kitchen larder which s an old confession box adds to the charm.
The grounds are large with huge lawns and mature gardens with some very interesting features, like a pond and it's natural water fountain. The entrance to the National Park is just across the street, which allows your party to pursue different interests. Maybe it’s a jog or a romantic lakeside stroll or visiting an old abbey, its all there on your doorstep.
We also have two self-catering courtyard cottages available on the property, that are rented separately.

Liked · Carriglea Guesthouse is a lovely place to stay we would surely come back again. Such a lovely location and the history of the house itself is very interesting. The owners are very nice people and the breakfast is delicious. Thank you, Adrian
"Exceptional" Location is superb, breakfast was delicious and the views are panoramic! We really appreciate Eileen and John’s hospitality and will recommend everyone to stop by this place and enjoy a bit of the history.
"Fantastic Irish Farmhouse" This was a golf trip to the south of Ireland with 7 close friends. Carriglea House was a great base from which we ventured out daily to the different golf courses we played. It is a few kilometers from Killarney and a 5 minute cab ride into town. The house has that quaint Victorian feel on a large expanse of land. All the rooms are comfortable , clean and spacious. The wifi works well and John and Eileen are great hosts ( they live just behind the house). We also had an Irish breakfast each morning before our departure, which they prepared. Eileen would also leave cupcakes or some sort of dessert in the kitchen for us to snack on. The refrigerator was always full of ice and all the amenities worked well and were at our disposal.
A great retreat I would recommend
Miss it already We shared this beautiful manor house with three other families while in Killarney for All Ireland’s. It was clean, picturesque, charming and spacious. Hosts were very welcoming. My family of four had plenty of room for stepping away from the group, but mostly enjoying gathering in the kitchen or the front sitting room with its wonderful fireplace. Dining room also had a fireplace and a gorgeous view of Killarney National Park. We hiked into the park multiple times, walked to Muckross Abbey, and still were perfectly situated for quick trips into town. Lovely home!
