Outstanding Lakeside Victorian Manor House In Walled Estate
This historic house is one of the jewels in the crown of Killarney accommodation. Its location alone is unrivalled, sitting on a slight rise overlooking the lakes and mountains, in a peaceful countryside setting but still within walking distance to Killarney town and across the street from the entrance to the national park. The house itself, like the setting is totally unique, it has kept its old world charm but with modern conveniences discreetly included. This period house has an interesting history mirroring the history of Ireland from the landlord era to present day.
The rooms are all large with the drawing room and dining room featuring some wonderful antique furniture and large bay windows with lake views. The bedrooms have their own private bathroom. The kitchen is modernly equipped with the addition of an AGA stove which will be the one piece of equipment you will long to take home with you. The kitchen larder which s an old confession box adds to the charm.
The grounds are large with huge lawns and mature gardens with some very interesting features, like a pond and it's natural water fountain. The entrance to the National Park is just across the street, which allows your party to pursue different interests. Maybe it’s a jog or a romantic lakeside stroll or visiting an old abbey, its all there on your doorstep.
We also have two self-catering courtyard cottages available on the property, that are rented separately.

Wow, perfect in every way!! The home itself is magical, the setting is ideal, the owners are so kind, the property is a gift in every way one can imagine. Splendid!!!
Our Family of 12, aged 8-71, spent a week in July at Carrigela House. The home and experience John and Eileen offered delighted us in every category. The location is right on the edge of the Killarney Park, and well setback from the road with a long driveway. The lawns were perfect for the younger children to safely play and explore. The donkey and horses were very friendly - a wonderful surprise for the kids. The house was spacious and well laid out. It is fully equipped with a well-stocked kitchen and laundry supplies. The kitchen is huge with every appliance we might need of commercial quality. The bedrooms are spacious and immaculate. Thoughtful items, like conversion adapters for electrical outlets, were there . John and Eileen took the time to explain where everything was and how everything worked on our arrival. They were always available to us. They are great hosts!

My family and I had a fantastic time. We had 6 adults and 6 kids (ages 5-13).Everyone enjoyed the Carriglea House and hated to leave. The kids did not want to spend any time away from the front lawn where they played ball and played on the tire swing. The adults enjoyed evenings reminiscing our days adventures in the formal living room. The location and views are unmatched.
John and Eileen were warm, welcoming, and very helpful. They made us feel like family. We had three generations staying in the house and could not have imagined a more lovely setting to call home during our trip to Ireland. My 14 year old nephew wished we could all stay and live there together - quite a compliment to our hosts, the care they take with their property and farm, and the energy of the place. A true delight and memories that will stay with all of us for a lifetime.
They say Ireland is the place of a thousand welcomes and this could not have been truer of John and Eileen. They are the most gracious, kind, and professional hosts. They were always available to answer questions and offer suggestions on restaurants and must see sights in Killarney. The accommodations were perfect for our group of 11. We enjoyed family dinners around the beautiful dining table overlooking Killarney lake and the mountains. We all agreed this was the best vacation we had ever been on and hope to visit Carriglea House again some day.
We stayed at John and Eileen's Carriglea House for a family reunion with 12 (4 children) over a one-week period. It was fantastic. The house is charming and the kids enjoyed the animals and outdoor play space. John and Eileen are warm and welcoming hosts -- they provided great suggestions for activites and served wonderful breakfasts! We highly recommend!
We loved staying at Carriglea. Our rooms had so much charm, plus you cannot beat the location. Breakfast was amazing. We loved the area and plan on going back. We would definitely stay here again.
