As parents are sure to already know, kids tend to have different priorities when it comes to holiday homes. With this apartment in the centre of the Italian town of Viterbo, mums and dads are sure to nod appreciatively at the modern yet colourful interior design or the rustic exterior of the fifteenth-century palazzo building that it's housed within, but this might not impress little ones. What's sure to turn their heads, however, is the bespoke play area filled with wooden toys or, if they're slightly older, the building's private museum of old pinball machines. Perhaps even better, if adults need a moment of peace — you are on holiday, after all — babysitting can be arranged by the hosts. There's plenty to see and do around these parts too, from the thermal baths that have attracted wellness enthusiasts for centuries to the grandeur of the former papal palace.
