Area
On County Clare's west coast, Kilkee is a charming seaside town that overlooks a mile-long horseshoe bay with a safe and sandy Blue Flag beach shielded from the Atlantic by the Duggerna Reef, which spans the bay's opening. Bathing and swimming can be enjoyed at any time of the tide in Kilkee, makingĀ it the safest Irish beach. Every week during the summer holidays, the Kilkee Surf School offers surf camps at Kilkee and Doughmore beaches for kids aged 9 to 16. Another option is Waterworld. It's no wonder that Waterworld is a popular indoor water park year-round, with a variety of attractions like the "lazy river ride," "61-meter crystal tower slide," and the Thalassotherapy Center, which offers various sea-based therapies, alongsideĀ its many indoor water attractions. On the way to George's Head, the 18-hole championship golf course stretches along the cliffs, where there are numerous cliff-side walks that are truly breathtaking. Locally caught fish and shellfish can be found in Kilkee's cafes and restaurants, and its pubs and lounge bars frequently host live music competitions, traditional Irish nightly events, cabaret, dancing, and pub theatre. Among the nearby attractions is Carrigaholt, where visitors can watch dolphins, as well as scuba diving, birdwatching, and horseback riding. A wide variety of options are available for everyone.
