Area
Conwy, a World Heritage Site, is unquestionably well-known around the world for its historical and architectural legacy, yet the centre of the town is a hive of busy activity. There are numerous specialised stores, eateries, and motels in addition to its traditional festivals and fairs, musical performances, galleries, and tourist attractions. Conwy Castle, which was constructed for King Edward I between 1283 and 1287, is still regarded as one of the finest examples of mediaeval military construction. The castle's unusual, elongated shape—complete with two barbicans, eight enormous towers, and a large bow-shaped hall—was likely influenced by the castle's location on a small rocky outcrop. The Gwledd Conwy Feast, the Honey Fair, the Seed Fair, and other yearly festivals, events, and fairs, as well as other musical occasions throughout the year, are just a few of the town's many annual celebrations of its historical traditions, which it is pleased to uphold. Conwy is the ideal starting point for exploring the stunning Snowdonia National Park, strolling along undeveloped sandy beaches, or taking in the breathtaking nature right outside your door. The Llechwedd Slate Caverns, which have the longest zip line in Europe, are also close by, while Surf Snowdonia is only six miles distant.

Had an amazing long family weekend at Gwern borter in the Conway Valley to celebrate my “significant” birthday. It was so lovely to have all the family together in such a beautiful house. The hot tubs and sauna were a real hit with three of the four generations while the matriarch watched on, sitting in the sunshine on the terrace. There was plenty of room for the children - and two dogs - to run around in the garden and play hide and seek in the house! We had an excellent private chef on the Saturday evening who took time to discuss a menu to suit our needs. On Sunday we had a relaxing walk to the local pub, the Groes Inn, for lunch.
Would revisit Gwern Borter in a heartbeat and certainly plan another get together before the next big birthday!

A beautiful house for our family holiday over Easter. Unfortunately, there were many problems, not all of which were resolved. The owner was not particularly helpful and seemed annoyed when I contacted her. She did arrange for a plumber, who sorted out the worst problems. The kitchen was not particularly well equipped, there was damp in several bedrooms and the top floor landing was half painted and reeked of paint all week.
The worst aspect was the half size dishwasher, which resulted in hours of manual washing up.
